Art & Inspiration How about a 1957-1958 Ford thread?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Jan 6, 2016.

  1. I wonder if this one started out life as a Ranchero. The roof looks different to me (angled up towards the back), maybe the pic. Great looking car though.
There was a guy on the '57 forum who was attempting to make a Fairlane based '57 Ranchero. Haven't heard from him in a year or two. I was anxious to see it progress.

  7. Two in the same shot. cool. I thought that '57 C...vy was a conv. parked next to a 50ish sedan. The more I look at it, the more I don't think so. Sure glad they didn't do that to one of our Fords.

It's a 1957 with the roof of a 49-52 Fleetline. I saw it a couple of years ago at GNRS.

A friend of ours who has since passed away worked for Revell and scanned the 57 in our shop during the build for the model that was recently released. Here is a shot of it on the return road at the RT66 raceway. The owner of the car and the rest of the guys involved in the build are still very much alive. ua__share_1571175996258.jpg

    FullSizeRender_1.jpg FullSizeRender_2.jpg FullSizeRender.jpg Here's a few photos of my dad's 57 Coupe to Ranchero project circa 1970.
Always wondered if it survived! Any Saint Paul area Hamb'ers with an info?

I like the idea of the curved rear glass.

  12. @BigRRR I may have seen a photo of it yesterday on Instagram. I knew it wasn't stock, having wrap around glass. I'll see if I can find the photo and post it.

  14. Here's the photo that I saw. I should have said that it wasn't a photo of the whole car.
I saw this and at first thought it was a Ranchero but then noticed the rear window. Could this be it?
It might also be an Aussie Ute......

  15. I know the pics bigrrr posted was modified from a Custom sedan, but that door jamb in the above pic does not appear to be '57 Custom, and I don't think the one that he's trying to find was modified in that area. Would like to see more of everything in that pic.!
Also, the bottom corner of the windshield on the 57-58s is rounded, not sharp. The striker plate is not like Fords either. The late model steering wheel appears to be a GM, and not too many Ford guys would put a GM wheel in a Ford. Maybe a Chevy in that pic? Hard to concentrate on looking at the car.

Thanks for tracking down the photo ... interesting it has the curved glass, but the pillar is more angled.
Wish I had a photo of the completed car. I always assumed he put a stock Ranchero window in, never noticed the difference. I wonder what he put in for rear glass?
