Hello Everyone! I am looking for information on the Car Craft October 1959 cover car. My grandfather, George Smaldone built the car in the 50's and was at a car show and they featured him. He is also located in the centerfold. I was told that it was last seen in RI about 6 years ago. It is a 1933 Ford 3 window with a ford truck grill and a 48 merc engine. Any information would be great! I have the original photos and correspondence with the photographer and Car Craft magazine. I am looking for its current owner and location. If you know anything please message me.

    Thanks,

    Derek

  3. i hope you find it before someone makes it "traditional" by un-channeling it,putting a deuce grill on it, prime it flat black and removes the fenders, hood and nerf bars.

I know that it has been repainted a different color than red. Don't know what it is.

  5. Reminds me of one a few years back. Got stolen, then recovered a few days later, intact if I remember correctly.

I'm sure they are not the same car.

This gave flashback's of a thread started by a lady searching for her mothers' old t-bird. So far it seems you are the patient type. Good luck with the hunt.

I neglected to mention that the hood sides look like '34 - '35 Chevy Standard with those pressings, same as my '35. Hood tops could be OEM Ford as Chevy's were not that [Chevron] shape

The magazine says it has a 1937 Ford Truck Grill and side panels are an early GMC product...it's nice looking early rod I just hope no one destroyed it or chopped it!

Everyone I’m still in search for my grandfathers 1933 Ford 3 window. Any help would be great! In other news, he was nominated once again for he Seekonk Speedway Wall of Fame. Vote for George Smaldone!

I guess you thought to ask Frank's Auto Top...seems they are still around. Also I would check out any speed shops or paint shop that might still be in that area. Even if your grandfather did most of the work himself, he still bought parts and supplies somewhere. Gene.

He built the car in 1957-59. Most likely he got the parts for the car out of his old race cars when he raced at Seekonk Speedway or the junk yard.

Ed thanks for the information. I used to be from RI but I’m now in NJ. My uncle, Ed Horsfield is still around and most likely was at this event. He has been on the lookout for me for about 5 years with no luck.
