I found this ‘32 Ford Roadster dash at a swapmeet a while ago, dude said it was out of a LA Roadster members car which was a former land speed car. I have no idea the truth of this but it did have an old timey instrument/gauge cluster in it.

Trying to figure out what style cluster was in it.

Opening is 15”x4 3/4” at the widest and tallest points.

    Any ideas H.A.M.B.ers?

except for the bump at the bottom center, it looks similar to a 33-34 dodge 1934 dodge instruments.jpg

Any idea on dimensions? I was thinking it was an old aftermarket Stewart Warner insert.

  4. How about 1932 Oldsmobile. ( or thereabouts with lower bump ) What Mike shows with the upper & lower curve looks like a good contender too.

I thought it looked like a 1929 Durant but now I think 34 Gaz might have nailed it. 1929 durant.jpg

See, I was thinking it would likely have been aftermarket if it was truly out of a race car. I’ve gathered these photos from the H.A.M.B. but don’t know any of the dimensions

    honestly don’t know though

  7. They all look like good examples. Maybe someone made their own keyhole along the lower edge or a kill switch or warning light.

Make a new one, and use digital gauges

  9. Man. This one is close, especially with the round fob at the bottom center.

How about "old school" with just painted metal dash with holes for gauges and switches and nothing else.. Or not....

Presumably the dimensions can be computed by scaling up from the pics by reference to the gauge dimensions which will be known (by those that know these things, not me! :)

But it seems you've got some strong contenders for the elusive identity anyway!

  15. In reference to the above photo ... 6 places up ^^.

Tom McMullen’s roadster originally, had a Stewart Warner gauge panel installed in 1957. Nick Adams who starred in the late ‘50s TV series “The Rebel” (1959-1961) as Johnny Yuma, was shown in a promotion photo, with that particular roadster.

Today that car, has a bank of gauges installed, similar to your second dash picture. Ironic, huh' ? Maybe you're related, in spirit senses ?

    I had a '29 roadster with that dash cluster. It's a '32 Packard.

It's a pressure gauge with very low numbers, maybe fuel pressure

Might have had a boat dash as very common.

It's got to be the '32 Oldsmobile one that 34 Gaz posted.

It would be interesting to know it's history. If it was on a car that belonged to an LA Roadsters Member there are probably photos showing it in the car in the archives somewhere.
