Technical what can be done to a Ford 272 Y-block

The man has a good low milage 272 in a 54 100 I say keep it.

 

Back in the day a friend of mine removed the 272 from a 55 Ford Fairlane 4 door and replaced it with a 312 Merc with a Wolverine cam, 57 Ford Nascar Dual Quad set up and a 3 speed floor shift transmission out of a Ford P/U. Kind of a sleeper that ran pretty well for what it was and definitely surprised a lot of people.

 

Y-blocks have there own sound. Reason enough to keep it.

 

let's see if i can remember all the Y-blocks i own. full race 312 super modified. 33 Willys 292. 30 lakes modified street rod 272. F100 312. C500 272.

 

Back in the day(way back), when Chevy finally made a V8, the story was (from the Ford lovers), that if you took a new Ford and a new Chevy with the V8, welded the hoods shut so you could not add oil, and drove from Omaha to the west coast, the Chevy would blow up before you got there. I guess the Chevy used oil, lots of it.
