Hot Rods Is there a patricular car that you have always liked but never owned

  1. Just some bolts and a few minor details!

  2. Back in 1962, a guy liked my 47 Chev coupe so much, that he offered to trade me either a 53 or a 54 Corvette for my car and I turned him down. I wasn't thrilled that the car had side curtains instead of roll up windows, but that wasn't the deal breaker, it was that I am 6' 2 1/2" (sorry, was, several back injuries and the vicissitudes of life have caused me to shrink 3"). At any rate, because of my size and the position of the driver's seat, I could not get comfortable.
    I still have no regrets.
My favourite of the C1 Corvettes, was the 57.

First on my list would be the 65 GTO 4 speed convert I had to sell when I got my greetings letter from Mr. Nixon!
then a 55 Buick Century 2 door HT with three on the tree
    58 Buick Century HT
    58 Pontiac Chieftain with tri-power
58 Chevy Impala 348, 3X2s std. trans with over drive
    55 Bel-Air convert
    56 Nomad
    62 Buick Wildcat
65 Buick Skylark GS convert 4 speed
    55,56,57 Cameo
    61 Chevy Impala SS 409 4 speed
40 Ford Deluxe coupe with a nailhead Buick and 4 speed
    32 Ford 5 window, nailhead , naturally
    54 Buick Skylark
    53 Olds Fiesta
I would be happy with those, but I could go on and on. I am the typical poor guy with big dreams and empty pockets!

Yes, an early 60's gasser style Falcon with a Ford cammer wedged under the hood, and a '64 B-body Mopar with a long ram Sonoramic 413. And a '55/'56 Dodge La Femme for my wife.

    And one of these.....

I've never owned a Tri Five Chevy or Model A. One of these days the right one will come along.

Actually, a Model A is currently my bucket list car. My Dad was a true fanatic of them, and I want to build one to honor him. He was also fond of the Model 40 coupe, as I am. He started out working for my grandfather in his Detroit body shop, where he had settled after the war. His health failed him and he moved back to Virginia, Dad followed him back as well. Granddad was a great body man and mechanic, and he passed as much of his knowledge down as he could.

I didn't know that. A friend of mine that I was in the service with had one. I guess it wasn't factory? I'm not one of those who gives a damn about matching numbers and trailer queens and I'm not a gold-chainer so a '67 tri-power I will have. You certainly are knowledgeable though. Good catch.

    There are many ...
Juat too many to list` em all, but from the top of my head:
61 Chevy Biscayne / BelAir 2dr sedan 409, don´t care for the bubble tops that much
    59 Brookwood or Kingswood
    58 Biscayne 348 2dr sedan
    32 Ford Tudor
    36 Ford Convertible
    55 Caddy Coupe Deville
61 Buick LeSabre Coupe ( most beautiful bubble top IMO)

  11. ...always wanted a 41 Chevy coupe, finally got this one but too many projects now so I sold it to my nephew who was lookin for a project...so at least I owned one for a bit, now off my bucket list. (I bought it to help out a widower disperse of her husband's projects,...so kinda killed 3 birds with one stone)
..would like 50-54 Plymouth wagon tho.

I'm not that much into GTOs I'm not sure I could tell a 66 from a 67 but GM killed all multi carbs in 67 except for the Corvette.

Is this a trick question? Most of the cars I wanted and want I never owned and unlikely to ever own, lol.

But a lottery win is always a possibility.

I'd be happy to have my '62 bubbletop back (or the Impala for that matter). Dumb kid I was...
Right now, a '62-3-4 two-door post Belair or Biscayne would make me a happy old man.
I've been collecting pieces for a period sbc that would be ideal for one....:D

  17. Wow, this thread has brought the dreamer out in a lot of us. Now that I am in my 70s, I often wonder after having so many old cars, why didn't I buy what I wanted when I was younger. My dream cars have always been a 56 Ford Crown Victoria, nosed, decked, shaved and lowered, and a 55 Chev BelAir two door post with 327, 4speed.

Yep. That was pointed out in an earlier post but, believe it or not, there exists at least one (and probably many more) 67' Pontiac GTO's with tri power set-ups. There isn't a ton of difference between a 66 and a 67, I simply prefer the body lines of the 67 over that of the 66. I like the grille too.

This is a tough question since one can only own but so many cars. It's also a tough question because I'm assuming this question involves on-topic, traditional cars. I don't think it's outside the realm of reality that for people on here, our interest in automobiles extends beyond just traditional cars.

    In terms of traditional cars, I'd add;
    -55 Pontiac
    -54 Olds Holiday 98
    -49 Mercury
    -39-40 Ford Coupe
    -59 Chevy, Olds, Pontiac
    -57 Corvette
    -Super Duty Pontiac
    -58-60 Thunderbird

    Some O/T vehicles for me would be;
    -Porsche 930
    -Porsche 997 Turbo
    -BMW M5
    -BMW 7 series

The three at the top of my list are '51 Hudson Hornet 4dr, '56 Olds coupe, '56 Ford in the base model variants, no Vic.

  24. '63 Split window  and an OT '67 Chevy II.

  27. My top five would be 32 Ford coupe, C1 Vette, model 40 coupe, Zephyr coupe, Willys coupe. But with my budget I'll have to settle for model cars. lol [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
