It was at Carlisle a bunch a years ago. I looked it over pretty well. My Dad, unknown to me, seriously considered buying it.

It was not a very well done car. Neat though.

The thing that always bothered me about that truck were the goofy four pipe headers above the correct flathead ones. First thing I'd do would be to take them off.

Never warmed up to it. Kinda put me in the mind of something a goofy guy like Ralph would build though. So I guess it worked as a prop as intended. No question of it's provenance though.

Thanks, there’s no way that car is worth &150,000. $80,000 is too much in my opinion

  15. your really not paying for the car, the bid was buying the history/story.

  20. Look beyond the tv add on crap and that is a genuine/old 50s Hot Rod rpu. 150k is, and will continue to be wishful thinking, 80k was more than fair price.

If that was my car I would be sprinting right up to the podium and snatching that $80,000 right out of the auctioneer's hand. The $150,000 reserve is nothing more than a dream and will never be realized. As time goes on fewer and fewer people will know what "Happy Days" was or even care. The car's value will just continue to spiral downwards. As Jimmy has stated in his post, this looks to be a genuine 1950's hot rod pickup and I fully agree. The real Auburn dash, genuine filled 32 grille, 40 steering wheel, Moon fuel block, all point to the fact that this was a genuine 1950's hot rod. Personally I would take off all that "Happy Days" TV crap and return the car back to the way it was back in the 50's.

I wonder with the new Petersen online archive of photos if we couldn’t find it in some early racing photos. .

Roll bar could be a clue

  25. take away the "movie/tv crap history and the bidding would not have reached $20k

56460F5C-0A67-4C8F-9DC9-F1B9A255741F.jpeg Looks like it had some added bullshit on it here too.

1149B193-1646-4243-9A7A-4CE1E5BBAFD6.jpeg MUCH cooler hotrod in the same movie. Maybe this one is recognizable and would be a link to where the Malph car came from

Your telling me that if I was selling a movie prop that wasn’t in a movie that it would sell for way less?

Seems like your pointing out the obvious?

@Jimmy B I think i may have found where the RPU came from. I was looking at old car movies today on youtube and came across a movie called Teenage Thunder from 1957.
