If you read the article, Marian Cottles did the top and interior from Sacramento. But in the same issue this add appears which I posted above already. Scan0874.jpg

There was a tribute car to Joe`s that was built and featured in the May of 94 issue in Custom Rodder. I misplaced my issue. It was gold with a white top. Built by Rod Powel ? Jimmy Z did the top and interior. Had a good construction picture of it in the article as well. Where is the car now? 2019-10-13_203956.jpg

A Barris add from the same magazine. It was also mentioned in the magazine as well. But no mention of the padded top. 2019-10-14_222657.jpg 2019-10-14_222909.jpg 2019-10-14_223022.jpg

Question, when was the first 49 Mercury chopped. Look at the add from the September 1949 issue of Motor Trend 2019-10-14_224155.jpg as well.

Trying to organize my magazines that are laying about. 2019-10-16_000026.jpg 2019-10-16_000147.jpg I thought this was an interesting article that appeared in a magazine called Custom Pictorial. Dated 1965.

From a 1950 Motor Trend article. Topless. Then featured in July 1951 Motor Trend. Who is Chavez? 2019-10-16_005848.jpg 2019-10-16_010227.jpg 2019-10-16_010336.jpg 2019-10-16_010445.jpg

Mitchell Nebraska isn't too far away. Maybe should go see if Springer Jones is still around.

Mitchell is all the way across the state of Nebraska(near Scottsbluff) and dang near to Colorado. ----But then the car went to either Davenport or Burlington Iowa, shortly after that. Both located on The Mississippi River. And it sat on a used carlot. Then gain, I am working on a 40 Merc 4-dr convertible(stock) right now for a guy who used to live in Scottsbluff up until a few years ago.

I first saw pic`s of that car a few years ago at the Greenfield Iowa swapmeet wanting info on the car. Didn`t meet Larry then(the booth with a single aluminum intake looking for a mate to it) But last year In Indy`s Custom Car Revival, I met Larry May while talking To Russ Eslinger from Illinois, the current owner of the Merc of Zaro Ford. Who bought it in 1953. More pic`s to come. That I took. Remember, I`m a custom car nut who loves the history. I also took pics of Larrys pictures with my camera from his album as well as from Russ`s.
