For my RPU Y block I’m looking at installing a Lokar dipstick because I don’t have any options for a stock style dipstick. It’s a side of the block location and I have the lake headers. This Lokar dipstick will work well but I’m wondering if it’s acceptable to bolt the top bracket to a header bolt
I'd space it out. Our dirt race engine is this way.. BTW thanks for using black sp wires. Nothing looks worse on an detailed engine than colored wires...
I thought I’d maybe replace the one header bolt with a stud and then maybe make a heat isolating spacer of some sort.
A spacer or insulator is not necessary, I have the same dipstick on a 460 Ford with headers. No problem
So the dipstick doesn’t get hot enough to burn you if you want to check the oil after shutting it down?
That's why they make gloves. I have the same dip stick on the flathead and fastened to a header bolt. I have never noticed but I have never checked the oil when its hot.
I have the same thing on my roadster, small chevy with lake headers, not an issue and 7000 miles down.
Of course the bracket attaching to the header bolt wasn’t good enough for me so I made a little stainless steel bracket, removed the header and drilled and tapped the flange to bolt it on.
