Still plugging away at it. Thinking about ditching the fiberglass front pieces and going with stock pieces.

  4. Keep us posted, even if you have to dance around the motor a little.
I really like the modern motor (fast, eco, light) in a vintage car (stylish, light) idea. Seems like all the upsides of things i'd want from a car.

That was my thought. I build some unusual shit that not everyone gets....but choosing a 3SGE Beams motor from an Altezza seems to piss everyone off. I like it though. It sounds pretty mean with a big tube header and free flowing muffler.

Slowly but surely it is coming together. This is the latest mockup. I want the Bonneville look, but I think if I go much lower it will be hard to drive without body damage.

I'm thinking going with a narrower rear tire is in my future

This rear axle has to go. I will have to stick something narrower in to get the rear to sit down over the tires. I think it will look great with 18" moon discs.

Bonneville stance here we come and to hell with possible body damage!

  13. The width of that tire is nothing against HAMB rules, 50% of the cars in here have a tire that wide...good grief

If it's a Dana 44, keep it and have it narrowed.
I had mine cut 3". Looks MUCH better, and believe it or not, 3" doesn't sound like much, but the extra depth for the wheel center...makes a HUGE difference in the looks and have the ability to use a wider rim on your given wheel also.

The stude axle was long gone. I found a 57" wide axle but it was 5x4.5 bolt pattern. I pulled the axles and drums and carried them to a machine shop this week. Rear pattern now matches the chevy pattern used up front.

I plan on putting the axle back together this weekend.....and see how it works.

Yeah, wheels aren't exactly huge (18×7.5)....they were just too close to the quarters.

My comment had nothing to do with the *width* of the tire.

It was specifically about the current wheel design (they appear to be '80s GM stamped steel "mags" or even pro-touring style aftermarket alloys).

But maybe they're just rollers for the build process. On that, I could give him a pass! Screenshot_20191023-174300.jpeg

Build pics with hoopdee wheels deserve a pass.
Driver pics with chuck wagon wheels should be banned, penalties applied and burned.
    Hahaha.
I’m heading out Fri to score a 56 that will get a 53 nose. I’ll build a tube frame road race chassis. I have all the mechanical parts and need to do an axel tube swap on the Q/C Winters as needed. Ive been looking for the right candidate Stude for quite some time.
Has anyone used the Goodmark 1/4 panels? Curious as to how good the fit is.
    Your Stude looks great.

Those are from the newer, low option Camaro cars. Good enough to hide under moon discs.

I mocked it up with the narrower axle today. The tire goes way up in the fender now.

I had been thinking bonneville look....but wide whites and flipper caps might be cool too. 20191027_141143.jpg 20191027_141541.jpg

I vote for the Bonneville Look.
Low, black wall tires, no wheel covers unless they are Moon wheel covers.
Many wheels to choose from, including plain ol steel wheels.

Holy crap what a day yesterday was. I figured out this fiberglass front end has every aerodynamic cheat allowed by SCTA. The big one is the front fenders are pointed down at the front by a couple of inches. It looks cool as shit like this, but the wheel opening are crowding the wheels too much to be driveable.

For fun, I shimmed the front up 2.25" and it looks more like a normal stude except for having a 1" door gap.

I bet the damn jag motor would fit under the hood now.

Thanks. I think I am going to raise the front wheel opening about 1", but I am really happy with the look. Not full on Bonneville, but Bonneville inspired.

The tag on my hood..... 20200627_143359.jpg I'm guessing they made the other pieces too.
