I was at Greer Dragway in 1967 in Greer South Carolina when he was match racing Pete Robinson. He ran off the track after setting a new track record of 214 mph and totally destroyed his car. He was fortunate to live.

 

There is some super rare footage of the '64 Dodge Chargers at about 10:49.

 

Jimmy is buried just a few feet away from my sister. He was a local.

 

I have a clip on one of my old Wide World of sports videos with Jimmy Nix at Pamona in the early 60s ...Seems like a really cool person , just happy to be racing
