Hey guys,I bought this axle and wheels at an auction today and saved it from the metal scrapper. He was buying up everything. It was the only auto thing there really. I'm guessing its an early Dodge axle? 39-? Just a guess though. Are the wheels 32 Ford? I think the wheel covers are. Might use the wheels for garden art. One is a little rusty. Thanks for the help. I think they may be '32 wheels. '32 wheels are 18", '33-'34 are 17", and '35 are 16". No idea on the axle.
You'd have to give scrap away around here, went down to $55 a ton and I heard it dropped $20 more. That was a nice score.
I think you might have a Model T big truck axle there. The spindles and general shape of the axle look T, but it has pads for parallel springs (which is not typical T). It having drums with 5 bolt pattern is something a 27 T would have, but IDK if maybe big trucks had it sooner? So thats my guess.
Looks like you have a couple of nice hose hangers there. I'd sand blast them Spray bomb them a nice color and mount them (with the hubcaps on them) and roll my hoses up on them. Make it look like you used a pair of real nice wheels from 20 ft away. Years ago when I worked in a tire store in Waco Tx I hauled a nearly new Chrome reverse wheel that someone had hit something and bent the hell out of the inside lip on home and fastened it to a post next to the water spigot and rolled up my hose on it. We used to laugh at how many high school kids would stop jump out of the car an run up and look it and shake their heads and walk back to the car. That axle looks like three springer material.
That is a Chevy axle & spindles, with model A Ford hubs . Those spindles can be used on a model T axle & are popular with the T Speedster guys.
Pete Eastwood, Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I’m always amazed at what people know on here. Looks like I need to find a Speedster guy to share it with. I’m keeping the wheels though. They’re the only part of a 32 Ford I can afford!
