I believe, but am not certain, that that is a '55 Hardtop with '56 pieces. If that is wrong, someone please correct me.

'56 Customline Victorias are much more rare than Fairlanes, but I agree that they are good looking cars.

I went to high school (66-69) with a guy who ALWAYS had a 55/56 Crown Victoria (if I'm wrong on the Crown Vic years I apologize). He'd build a car; throw an I-BEAM AXLE under it (his "trademark"), BBF, 4-speed, 9 inch rear end, and then he'd sell it, and build another (???). Now, I've had TEN 56 Chevrolet's, so it's hard to say he was NUTS. But, why butcher them? That's the part I never understood, especially with a CROWN VICTORIA! Beautiful cars, and he was so "disrespectful" of them. JMO.

  13. Possibly the front crossmember was Rusted out. Also installing a FE in a 55 or 56 you had interference with the support for the top A Arm and the exhaust. With a straight axle you could torch and modify to gain clearance.

^^^Back in those days, I was even less "Ford" oriented than I am now^^^. This same fella, traded a 62 Ford Convertible, with a worn out 390 and 4 speed to a friend of mine, for his 55 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 door hardtop. I still don't know why my friend (Mark) did that (???)! 55 was a really nice car, the 62 Convertible, not so much. First thing he had to do was have the 390 rebuilt, then the car would't keep a driveshaft in it. Oh well, that was in about 1968. Still friends with Mark, my oldest and longest friend, even though he is a little too "religious" for me. I still see him 2-3 times a year, and we live on opposite sides of this State (I'm in Everett, he's in Clarkston). He does't have any idea why he did that way back then, other than "convertible" (???), and "girls". He was working at the airport at a flight training/sales center at the time, so $$$ was't it. Cest le vie'! I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

It is absolutely a '56 Customline Victoria. The '55 hardtop is much like the preceding year, and is shown in post #174.

Had a 55 Victoria for a while 292 w/ a Fenton shifted 3 spd in the floor. Was a decent ride. Local guy had a Black 56 Victoria with 427 and toploader. That was a gorgeous car....
