  4. A couple of weeks ago I made some custom panels to say Thank You! To the people who run our local cruise in. Here’s the panel that I made for them.

One of the guys took his panel to a local air brush artist and it came out incredible! With the depth that is added from the custom bead rolling combined with the air brushing this is truly an amazing piece of art. I am humbled to have been a part of this creation.

If anyone would like something created shoot me a message. Have a Great Friday!

"What you see is what you get..."

    Hello,

When driving on the streets of ANYWHERE, USA, one of the most fun thing is to see an old hot rod in your rear view mirror. One of the nicest hot rods on the HAMB is owned/built by Ron Funkhouser. All of the photos of his cool looking sedan delivery just fits right in with the look of the 60s-70s hot rods.

In one of my early forays into photography was taking photos while driving. (Yes, I know, pay attention and drive safely… We only did this on little to no traffic streets/highways.) We used to photograph the following hot rods through the rear view mirror and the driver’s outside mirror when turning on a street corner.

It was something the other photographers did not do and created a new photo composition for future photo sales and magazines. Having no motorized advance on the early 35mm film cameras was a little difficult, so the composition had to be “spot-on" during the drive to the location for the full coverage photos. Quick advance of the film lever and the next shot was ready.

It took some time, but it was done safely and the photos were appreciated by the owners of the hot rods/motorcycles. Editors, not so much as it did not showcase the car close up and in its glory. What more glory is there than driving a hot rod on a city street?

    DAY NIGHT MIRROR

The rear view mirror was the inspiration for the look of Ron’s Sedan Delivery drawing. But, as we did this more often, back in those early photojournalist days, and the traffic was getting thicker, we could not take the chance of an accident. So, my wife started to shoot through her outside mirror and turned the rear view mirror so she could get a look at the hot rod following us to the location. That created some odd looking shots from different angles.

Finally, we decided that the best way to get action shots in a super clear format was for my wife to drive and I got in the back of the El Camino with my camera arsenal, in color and B/W. The action shots were in clear focus with a blurry background…"easy peasy"… Then, the editors wanted to know how I got such clear, in focus hot rods with the background completely blurry. It cost them several more photo articles in color...Ha!

...This is a rework on a huge joining of Newer and Older Vintage Cars by an older gentleman (70)
posted by a Hamber...It really got most scratching their heads trying to make sense of it including me...so I tried to Lipstick it and it does look better...That included a Chop, Flared, Peaked and Widened hood, Lowering, New Shoes and some added trim...Oh and the thinker in the bottom corner...:D

A huge Undertaking not unlike many extensive Custom Builds...Despite the negativity some even from myself......I think it looks much better than I thought it would...

  15. Hey Guys an Gals, not sure if you consider this art, but it's a "hand signal" reflector I made. Back in the 20s or 30s a single reflector ring called "Devils eye" was produced, so here's my version an a pic of the orginal. 20191009_143958.jpg 20191009_144331.jpg
