I am on my 2nd 40 Ford sedan, have been a huge 40 fan for a long time. I saw a 40 p/u at goodguys Colorado but it just didnt look right, proportions were great but it looked different. finally the owner came by and I asked him about it. he laughs then says he combined a 2dr sedan and a pickup. he cut off the sedan at the back of the frt door line and cut off the back of the pickup cab and mated them. he said it gave him 6" more of room and allowed for the seat to lay back more. he said most people would never notice.

I like it from that angle but the jury is out until I see the side view and the rear quarter. They have cowl vents.
Great looking truck but you probably were doing the same thing I do a lot of and that is walk and snap and then stop and look in detail and take more photos of the ones that really spin your wheels.
The more I look at it, the more it makes me think of Hudson pickups of the same vintage. The Hudson pickup cabs were the front half of a 2 door sedan body. From the door jamb forward, it was a car.
This particular modification has been done a number of times over the years, some more successful than others. This, from my August 1962 issue of Rod & Custom, was nicely done by a Mr. Ray Nish of Oakland, California from a '37 Ford Sedan.
