anybody put a 24 bolt flathead in a Plymouth 4 banger (31/32)? I have acquired 5 motors and want to use one in one of my Plymouths. The Ply frames are much stronger and come with juice brakes. Curious as to any changes needed to handle the weight/power increase. the V8 will have at least 125-175HP with the upgrades. springs/ rear end? I am also looking for 1940+Ford front/rear suspensions for another project. Any help appreciated. Richard [email protected] 407 417 4882
Wood spoke wheels??? Ford was torque tube, Plymouth is open rear end, diff plenty strong but likely has 4.11 to 1 or 4.34 to 1 ratio. What trans are you going to run? Do you have the original engine and trans? Quite a few folks might be in the market if use not in your plans.
For about the same money as a flathead you could have a 331 Chrysler Hemi and really have a nice Plymouth coupe , and as a bonus twice the horsepower. Or if you wanted to save a ton of money you could do a 318 or 360 Mopar and again have twice the horsepower, plus a light weight engine and keep it all mopar .
