I'd think you could use a puller similar to a lock plate puller, I/e a Channel that would go over the top of the dowel.

Put a tight through hole in it, then run a bolt through it and thread on the dowel.

Then, before you ran the bolt through, you have a nut on it.

So then you'd hold the bolt head with a wrench, then turn the nut with another wrench.

Instead of heat, I wonder if hitting the dowel with the stuff plumbers use to freeze pipes might me an option? i/e shrink the dowel...Might take a few tries, but would eliminate any issues that heat could cause.

Then again, no one is probably talking about pulling the dowels...I guess I just rambling...

Not that long ago I got everything lined up and drilled through. Then I turned a dowel to fit from a head bolt. Good steel. Yes it's an odd size. But it will last me well past when it needs to. Cheap and quick.

This is what we did for our race car. My buddy bought a kit from Moroso, I believe. It took very little time and worked great. And it was cheap.

again, why do you believe its out of spec, even after line bore? did you measure or the trans/torq converter didn't fit?. Threads in the dowel pin are you to be able to slide hammer them out or run a long threaded bolt and jack them out
