Would you believe I spent 7 hours putting the trunk gasket in. Had to redo the latch plate/sand the lip and adjust the actual latch. Bill helped me keep the urge to pick up a hammer in check. Managed to chip the paint on the inside. I got touch up paint and no it’s not out in the open but just kinda made me mad. Bill and Micky said it’s all Good. We’ve got touch up paint and masking tape. And Micky reminded me this is a race car.
Got to admit. It does help finish the look.

Wow that was a slog for sure. Good that it is done now with no hammers injured.

Ok got the underside of the front cap painted. Wow. Took almost half a gallon and that was with a roller. But it matches the firewall.
We are going to thin the trunk gasket a little more. It sets a little higher than I like.

Trunk gasket finished. And touched up the paint on the inners lip where I chipped it. Trunk also sets down and latches like it should with out force or pressure.
The cap is back on and the grill and headlight assemblies are on and in. Its starting to take on the look we wanted and hoped for.

Door glass, regulators ,channels ,window felt, are in. Managed to get the glass in with out a scratch and the adjustment for the electric regulators didn’t take long.glued the channels in and the felt strips actually went in with counter sunk screws Operating smooth. Got to get inner door panels and switches installed.

    Thanks guys.
Dash gauges/wiring/ plumbing ( brakes/ and fuel). Gonna start assembling the engine pretty soon also. ( injectors gotta go to be flowed( checked at least / and I want to have the pump checked.Had intentions of using the push lock that looks more correct - But its no cheaper than steel braid anymore and there were a lot of cars of that era that had pretty spiffy hoses. We happen to have a lot of it( steel braid) - and its paid for. Have a run in stand so all the cam break in/ valve adjustments/ etc will be worked out before it ever bolts in.
Also gonna start back with the interior work on the Prefect - pretty much got to duplicate what I did to the willys. At least it isn't 94 degrees like it was this past Saturday.

Door panels/and handles installed. Switches all mounted. The wiring harness will be in adel clamps but I am going to mount the harness outside of the door panel. This is a race car and this is not my first one. Lesson number 1. Keep simple. Number 2. Functional. Number 3. Both 1 and 2. All of my rails were this way and it never let me down.

Yep. That is the big boss.
For the record we just sanded the inner panels and cleared them.As it turns out it make the doors quieter when they shut. They all ready shut like steel , but this made them even better.

Ok got bumpers back from powder coating. I was hoping the Eastwood chrome coat would be a little lighter. It was until the clear coat got on it. They (being Eastwood) said it won’t hold if you don’t. It’s slick and smooth but it darkened up some.
Question any one ever buffed powder coating? They make a polish for this on their sight wondered if anyone has used it. The short black bumper is for the prefect.

Parachute is mounted. Looks good and also covers the tag box on the trunk which looked terrible. Used a blacked out aluminum splash panel to cover the corners and edges.

  25. Maybe a little late but when I built my bumper I took an electric orbital sander to the bare steel and shot clear over it, gave it a satin aluminum look. 20191102_235222.jpg

  28. It's a 41 Chevy that I gave some 39-40 influences, I had a build thread but there wasn't much interest in it, so I quit updating it.

  30. Ha ha, let me finish doing the upgrades, bigger blower, complete new fuel system front to rear and going to 35 spline axles and carrier. I'm trying to make it a little more efficient and get closer to a grand on hp, it made just shy of 800 on 3 lbs with the old 6-71. 20191007_175518.jpg
