    Good shot Roo.
One of the best (and meanest) looking Altereds out there. Always a sight to see at Orange County and Irwindale Raceways.
This shot looks like it could be Irwindale. Stands almost within arms reach of the track.

    P.s. -
Thinking about it, the stands at Orange County were also close to the track, so...this shot could easily be either track.

Not sure how many times this one has been posted here but it is still Sush Matsubara in the first Mondello Fiat. Photo is by the late Jere Alhadeff

I'm curious about the 6-point cage. Is that a later photo of Willie's car or is that the replica?

Yep, right there on the side of the car.
Not to take anything from Mike, he has picked up the reins quite remarkably.
I wasn't around to see Willie drive but I've witnessed Mike handle that car many times and it is something to see.

  11. I would sure like to hear what the drive said about that moment. It looks like one of the slicks is off the ground.
    Think he lifted?

Actually that is Wing IV. There was the original that raced for a long time in various forms before wrecking. Then there was the Logghe car that was purchased to honor a bunch of match race bookings. Years later that was followed by the first clone (with six point cage etc) but that one bit the dust when the king pin boss fell out of the front axle at Bakersfield. And then there is the one in the photo which I built (rolling chassis) for Mousie and Mike to continue the tradition of the Wing.

  14. I was at Famoso when the king pin exited the spindle. Forgot about that. Thanks for the "tune up" Roo.

  15. The first time I saw Mike make a pass in the Express, he carried the front wheels about a foot off the track to the 1000' mark and never lifted. Ran over 200 on that pass. That's when I knew Willie's ride was in good hands.

Yea, Mikes got a great handle on driving that car.

I've seen it (Fomoso) at half track, front tires off the ground, rear tires with white smoke pouring off the tread, AND...the car is sideways..!
I've seen him do this more than once.

I've also seen it get away from him to a point and the car ends up in the other lane. Luckily, no car to car interactions have taken place (that I've seen).

That was no doubt at the CHRR, good chance I was there as I went for a number of years.
I think (it's all a blur) the last one was the year before he lost the spindle, when I saw the video I had to get that shot for my shop wall.

Vintage photo, so it has to be the original.

The Surfers towed their Top Fueler with a '55 Chevy - with an inline six, three-on-the-tree! All over the West.
