Finally getting to start this thread. This ia an annual event and 2019 is the 43rd (started 1977) and we have missed only one. This year came down a day earlier on the Friday and traveled in the Hudson for this one. Valla Park is a large resort complex with camping and cabins and we have been fortunate to have good cabins close to the action of cruising and also friends in other cabins. In recent years the managers have let the cabins deteriorate and are more interested in the permanent residents who also have a large part of the complex. After we leave this year our cabins will be demolished and replace with more permanents. Not sure how we will go next year but hoping our contacts will give us some joy. So this year we have have had good weather and looks like close to 400 cars will attend. Today is Friday 3rd October and tomorrow is the final day with the street show in Nambucca Heads and then back to the Park for wind down. The dark blue channeled 32 roadster towards the end of this lot of pictures is an accurate recreation using a lot of original parts of a car built in Brisbane back in the mid 60's. Michael Morris spent over 10 years collecting parts to authenticate the original including the old radio, carburettors and lots of other stuff. A remarkable effort. This car was my inspiration back in 65 when I first saw it at age 16-17 and I went on to have my first hot rod , a 1929 channeled roadster in 1968. Enjoy the pictures.
The Dragens always have a new theme and this year it was Vikings. Some of the entrants go to great trouble to join in the fun of the theme.
Most of these pictures from number 7 onward was an event held in a neighboring twon called Macksville where they staged "Manflys" which involved guys dressing up with all kinds of apparatus to help them fly and jumping off a platform built over the river and seeing who could get out further-est. Some hilarious entrants and not much flying.
Getting there. In the afternoon we have cruising in the park with lots of cars circulating through the roads around the cabins and camping areas. The corral today was roadsters.
You guys might be from "down under" but your show was "over the top". Looked like a ton of fun, more than ive had at a car event for a while. Thanks for the pics!
Always great pics and scenery. The cabins look to be in fair shape. Thanks for the tour, lotsa nice looking cars down there....as always.
Thanks #hudson48 for great pics of some really awesome cars. Valla and the Yamba Rod Run are on my list of events to get to soon. I hope the changes at the current Valla location don’t jeopardise ongoing events. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
some more before we go into town for the street display. First lot is some cruising from yesterday and then the lineup for street display.
Last lot for now. When we get back to the park it is time to pack up and head home tomorrow morning early.
