My guess is that airbags are not "traditional".

Factory installed air bag system, or a new fangled modern aftermarket set up?
It makes a difference to Ryan and this is his house.

Bummer! Judging by similar complaints, looks like the websites popularity is enough to treat the members of it, "unkindly". Here I was excited for my first thread, took some great photos, and hoped for some great advice. Was thinking of more interesting questions on my air suspension system installation with photos. Could have been a helpful and interesting thread to many.

I believe they had air suspension back in the 50's, this lincoln was going to have it before Ford changed their minds, not traditional?, that makes no sense. Thanks for the reply.

BTW, the lack of a reason or even a notification of its removal, not good.

Stick around and get a feel for the place.
You should have found the Jalopy Journal in 2005 like I did.
Today your dealing with the kinder more gentle HAMB, this place doesn't eat it's young the way it use to.

  9. Rookie mistake. Suck up your pride, put your ego in your back pocket, stick around and enjoy the show. We've all been where you are. Thankfully it's a narrowly focused forum. Just stay between the white lines and all will be well. If the moderators notified everyone that stepped over those lines, they wouldn't have time to eat, sleep or work on their own stuff..............Don:)

My first thread ends up being a complaint thread, can it start any worse. It's not a pride or ego thing, it's a time and effort wasting thing. I doubt I'll do it again.

I don't know how it used to be as the other fellow said, but I have seen air bag threads in old posts on this website. I'm confused to the point where it makes it not worth the effort to contribute new threads. Yes, I'll enjoy the photos of other peoples customs and try not to make dumb ass troll comments.

    Complaint OVER!

  11. Welcome to the Hamb, a deleted thread shouldn't deter you from participating, Lord knows, I probably have had more threads deleted than anyone.

Just food for thought, it may not be the content of your thread but the particular car you posted, this site is pre '65 on content what year is your car? HRP

Several years ago Ryan took to focusing his web sight on what he build this place for. To focus on traditional (1965 & older) hotrods & customs. Now when those old threads pop back up they either get locked, or zapped into the internet ether. New threads typically disappear quickly, although some topics seem to get a pass. Like using T5 transmissions.
It is what it is and I thank Mr. Ryan & the moderators for all they do to keep this a place I can't stay away from.
Don't give up on us yet. You might end up liking the JJ & HAMB.

1st grumpy, closest thing I can find in that that pertains to my thread.

    5. As mentioned throughout these guidelines, the H.A.M.B. focuses on TRADITIONAL hot rods and customs. Posts pertaining to traditionally inspired, but not quite period perfect belong on the main forum found here. Please note that we don't focus on things such as modern fuel injected motors, big-inch wheels, frame clips, after market independent suspensions, etc... at all on the H.A.M.B.. As such, posts that stray away from the "traditional inspired" will be deleted.

Mine is modifying a stock suspension, very "traditional", right?

How does this fit in, a current topic, and mine does not?

I already know. Your airbags are not 1958 airbags. Pretty simple, really. I have a HAMB friendly 1937 pickup truck but I don't post photos of the front disk brakes. Even posting about my rally wheels would be considered in bad taste.

Then why are Mustang II style disc brakes acceptable?

What you say makes no sense whatsoever.

  20. "As such, post's that stray away from the traditional inspired will be deleted." Seems pretty clear to me, air ride is not "traditional", at least, not around here!
Just about everybody on here has had post's deleted, it's not that big a deal. Hell, some of us have had a moderator chew us out over something that we have posted, accept it and move on. It's not personal...

  21. Mustang II brakes is off topic also, some things slip through from time to time, your thread may have been reported by a member as off topic, man it happens.

My suggestion as a long time member is just let it go, arguing about it won't help, ether a moderator or Ryan deleted the thread, there is no sense in beating a dead horse. HRP

Maybe it’s because the thread was about a Lincoln?

Maybe “Corporal Hicks” decided to “take off and nuke it from orbit” for the greater good?

    I kid, i kid....Welcome, Bro. Don’t sweat it.

My theory is that everyone probably has at least ONE aspect to their rides that is not “traditional”, and within scope of this board. No-one is saying that is BAD. It’s simply off-topic. I started like you, and was gently nudged to adopt a “traditional” mindset while on this site. Does that mean i don’t have a ScareBird disc conversion on my full-fendered, otherwise very traditional-looking 1930 Plymouth? Heck no. Safety is paramount, but other than informing others that it’s a great kit at a great value, i keep it on the down-low out of respect.

I have also realized that adopting a traditional mindset in several cases has meant relying on solutions cooked up in post-war heyday of hot rodding, and these solutions have been very pragmatic/affordable/achievable for this shade-tree mechanic.

Stick around. I think you’ll dig the vibe after a while...

If it's arbitrary, I would like to know that. Not that much to ask. Apparently Ryan agrees with the deletion but ignored my question. I just want to know what's up and what the rules are. If I'm going to take the time to take photos with a digital camera, down load to my desk top, then upload to this website and create commentary, I need to know the rules. I would think there would be a lot of support for this basic concept. I value my time greatly and so should you value yours. We either have explainable rules or we don't, so far we don't.

  24. I do and I'm done wasting it on this post! I already know how this is going to end!!

I totally understand the concept of the time investment, posting involves. Nobody’s going to disagree with you there. It’s an investment, pure and simple.

But you are literally posting about crotch-rockets on a Harley board. Do the Harley guys like you, in principle, because you ride? Yes!
Do they want to hear more about your non-harley conversation? Well...err...um...

    Does that make sense?

I like that you are using the word, “We”, as in maybe you’ll stick around. That’d be groovy.

On the other hand, if you’re using “We” in the context of you theoretically having control over the site that is not owned, operated or maintained by you...
Not sure that’s going to go the way you want it to go.

  26. The Hamb isn't for everyone, the rules are clear and I can only wish you could understand them, this site belongs to Ryan, he pays the bills and it's his playground and I would imagine staying on top of 123,343,590 members is akin to herding cats.

I fear your going to keep pushing back and more than your thread will get deleted. HRP

    Rules:
    1. No profanity in subject lines.

    2. No political/religious/racial posts at all. No exceptions.

    3. No Porn.

    4. We cover traditional '65 and older American cars only. All other threads will be deleted. We don't cover rat rods, muscle cars, mustangs, or VWs.

    5. No commercial posts.

    ................................

    Guidelines:
    1. If in doubt, don't post it.

    2. Stay on-topic and relevant with your posts; OT posts aren't generally appreciated by our membership.

    3. Gotta easy question? Try using the search function first.

    4. While we don't require "introductions," some members do appreciate them so it might be a good idea for you to do one here. Just introduce yourself and let folks know what you are all about.

6. Posts about period correct hot rods should go here.

    7. Posts about period correct customs should go here.

    ................................

    Why Was My Post Deleted?
    1. Did you confuse the H.A.M.B. with Facebook? That we are not... Save your personal strife for your choice of social media - it doesn't belong here.

    2. Did you post a "pray for me" thread? We don't do religion here. Join this group instead.

    3. Did you disrespect another user? We believe verbal battles through the internet are bullshit and as such, we delete all that we can. Further more, if you can't express an opinion without bagging someone else's, maybe you should rethink the validity of your opinion?

    4. Did you disrespect the H.A.M.B. or a member of its staff? Feel lucky that all you walked away with is a deleted thread or post. This is the quickest way to get your account deleted.

    5. Was your thread something that has been covered over and over again? Try searching next time. We've had countless threads through the years on bias tires vs. radials, the definition of "traditional," and many other topics. We don't need to rehash what the bulk of us already know.

    And, most importantly:

    6. Was your thread about something other than traditional hot rods and customs? Aside from a few "sidebar" topics that interest the staff here, we don't allow off topic posts. Your definition of "traditional" might differ from ours. That's fine. However, this is our forum and it's our definition that the forum is run off of.

Hey man... Take it easy... This place isn't so important that you go off the deep end and make accusations that I'm ignoring ya. It hadn't even been 12 hours before ya jumped to that conclusion.

You seem to think I'm singling you out and deleting your stuff out of spite. I'm not. Promise. I don't know ya... have no motive to do that... and am too busy to get involved with that kind of silliness.

Your post was off topic. If that doesn't make sense to you, hang out and read for a few weeks and maybe it will. And if you don't have the patience for that, just try another forum... There's no rational reason to spend all the time typing up these complaints and rebukes.

No hard feelings at all man. This place it what it is. Take it or leave it, ya know?

If your post gets deleted, just go on, don't get your feeling hurt & make a big stink about it. it happens!

The value of this place for traditional hot rod guys is through the roof!

Way too many guys have skin that is way too thin these days.
