Long time owner ( 50 yrs.) bought as drag car, put on the street and now back to this. Sorry, no straight axle. Everyone should have one!
That is Jim Hayes' 56 out of Indiana. Good guy and the car runs really strong. We talked quite a bit at the firs Pie Crust event. He ran last year as well but I missed it. I believe it is a 301 with stack injection. I believe it will go low 11s.
When i was 15 i worked for Jim in his bike shop. I introduced Jim to my Dad and they started to build Jim's 56 and Dad's 57. Both cars had been dormant for a long time. The hood currently on Jim's 56 was on Dads when it had a blower motor. Jim's car is quite nicely done. It's the only car I've officially driven down the drag strip. I think this is Jim Dillon's pic.
Scott although I have some pics somewhere I cannot seem to locate them. The picture above though was not my pic. It was an event in Indiana (1/8 mile track) where Jim won the event. Wish I had seen him run-the car is fun to watch and Jim really knows how to drive it.
Note the Kurtzman Headers on side of the car. John Kurtzman owned a sign shop but at one point started making headers back in the 60's that many racers used.

Nothing personal LB but sorry....................I just can't hold it in any longer. Corvettes like this (or any car like this) can't possibly be representable of a gas class RACECAR regardless of the builders INTERPRETATION. And those Mr Gasket air scoops SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN INVENTED. They are an abomination of the iconic injector hat that Kent Enderle built. Yeh, I hate those F#$king things. I actually can stomach a bolt-on spindle mount wheel more then them, but not by much. Rant over!
