Hot Rods Traded a Gatorade for a banjo rear

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by anthony myrick, Oct 2, 2019.

  1. guy was hauling this off Sunday. Flagged him over. He is cleaning up junk from a recently passed relative.
Going to pick up a few more axles from him.
He pulled the axle out of the pile and said he would take some Gatorade for it.
Juice brakes and the hubs will turn a little. Should be worth the price.

Looks like someone did a lift on it years ago, shortened the wishbones and tube. Added some shock mounts to the bones.

  8. That’s the plan. He had some roached remains of a touring car on the pile. Not even good enough to make a pattern from. There may be a few good parts there.
He said he has a front axle with the wide 5 bolt pattern he isn’t interested in. Turns out his nephew is in my shop class. Going to make sure nothing cool gets gone

It's a 46-48 rearend (anyone know when Ford started the panhard bar, was that in 46?). Looks like it was installed in a Model A by the looks of the added perches on the top side of the housings. And somebody turned the backing plates upside down for a dumb reason.

  11. I was wondering the same thing.
    Good eye.
Need to check if they mounted the wheel cylinders correctly
The perch weld is advanced for the stuff I normally find around here

I bought a Columbia for $10 at a salvage yard closing one time. Had three rear ends sitting out by the street for $10 apiece, I said I’ll take the one on the end, because it had a bulge on one side. He said ok, I was so excited, I forgot to buy the other two!
