Does anyone have a link to camshaft speciications for factory Ford cams? In particular, I'm trying to find the int/ex duration, LSA, and intake centerline of a 1974 302 cam.

    Thanks!

Don't know, but on a '74 it's going to be pretty lame.

Thanks, George. I'll plug "pretty lame" into my software and see what I get.

Search "who cares?" if that doesnt work for you.

You get these kind of answers when you have no info at all and want specifics. Do you realise how many different cam profiles Ford made that year alone?

I think I have them in an old Petersen's manual. I don't have it here, but I should be able to get it tomorrow.

No, I don't realise how many different cam profiles Ford made that year alone. I'm all ears. Tell me where I can find a grind number on the cam. I've looked -- maybe it is under varnish somewhere.

    Thanks for helping. :)

That would be awesome! Thank you!

PS -- I'm surprised nobody has put a table/database online. Maybe it is because most guys just get an aftermarket cam rather than tuning their factory cam.

I just went thru the same thing. Research the stock cam thru Autozone, advance auto etc, if you know what model it is for, like T-bird,mustang.
If you find it listed, the specs. should be there.

This was in Pat Ganahl's Ford Performance book.

It only goes to '72 as that was the year it was published. They changed the slot on the chain sprocket to retard the timing 4° in '72, but the cam didn't change.

Thanks, Guys! So if I put a Comp Cams Magnum double roller timing set on there I would be able to advance the cam back the 4 degrees that were lost to the smog era.

Umm, lame is the answer that comes out!:p

I was thinking that I've seen pics of the slot in the timing gear being moved instead of in the cam itself, so that it would be straight up or advanced depending on if you sat the new gear adv or on o.

LOVE this resource! Thanks for the tip.

However... the numbers are different from the scanned page in the post above. :\

So I searched the part number C3AZ-6250-V and I get pages with differing "official" specifications.

I'm pretty sure that is my part number because my cam is stamped "UA".

So if I go with Pat Ganahl's numbers (most likely correct), then is it possible for me to discern the Intake Centerline and Lobe Separation Angle from these numbers?

I come up with a Centerline of 117 and LSA of 141.

    <style type="text/css">p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; }</style> Camshaft &#8211; (part C3AZ-6250-V)

      • Intake Duration &#8211; 266
      • Intake Opens/Closes &#8211; 16 BTC / 70 ABC
      • Exhaust Duration &#8211; 244
      • Exhaust Opens/Closes &#8211; 44 BBC / 20 ATC

Thanks -- I knew that 141 seemed outrageous.

Apologies if resurrecting an old thread angers anyone, I just ran the lift specs, with an extra .010 added to the lobes and it gives a significant change in lift (.368/.380 becomes .384/.397).
I wonder how much that would change the duration @ .050?

302 didn't start until '68, so it was for the 289. would run "smaller" in a 302 than in a 289.

I bet, seat-of-the-pants, you'd probably be hard pressed to tell the difference between a 289 and a 302, with both engines being in the same condition and state of tune.
