I have spoken to the machine shop and parts supplier. This could be the reason for the low HP.
After doing some research the pistons are more likely 8.5 to 1.
The headers used for the Dyno run are crap headers.
The heads I used were the 1951 small exhaust port round.

If I used 10 to 1 pistons , High quality headers, and 54 later heads, horsepower should be 330.

What the heck maybe in a year a two I might put a blower on it. Next spring/summer's goal is to get it running and safe for the street.

It been a while before I could get back to the 31. My old man passed away last month and there has been a lot of illness in the family. I pulled the cover off the 31 and removed the rest of the interior. A couple of dead mice fell out of the headliner and a bunch of seed and nut shells. Here are a couple of photos. I hope once the humidity passes and the tornado clean up is over I'll be able to do some real work on it.

Go figure a tornado in Massachusetts dang.

Finally I was able to spend half a day on the car. I worked carefully on lifting the cab off the frame.

  10. Just saw this. So very sorry to hear about your loss. My Dad owned my '31 DB coupe and gave it to me, so his passing was especially tough for me. He always wanted me to restore my coupe.

@bostonhemi , I may have missed it, but are you running the factory front spindles/brakes/etc, or did you change?

    Thanks

Hi budget, I used an aftermarket mustang ii front end that I regret. I think I should have kept the original front suspension and upgraded the brakes or get a high quality front end like Fat Man. Its quite a learning experience too bad so costly.

I'm in the same boat as you, spent a lot of money on one setup - frontend, rear, etc--now when I finish teh metal work etc, I'm not going to use it. Oh well...spent the $$ long ago, maybe use it on something else.

  22. First, let may say nice project. I can appreciate an old Mopar with a with Hemi power. You may want to add some gussets to your shock brackets to make them more ridged. Its will be a bitch to repair after you set the body back on the frame, but simple to address now.. Keep the updates coming.

Ive been locating parts to start putting the chassis together. With some help The bench seat was taken apart and I had the gas tank and shocks painted, Waiting for the new gas tank straps. The seat wasn't done really well anyways and I will be going with a black interior eventually. I had a small setback when my vice broke putting the yolk on. It figures the vice was made in china.
Im starting to get excited about the car. I hope I can get at least a day or two without rain,

I spent the morning locating parts and decided to install the grill and radiator I put together a while ago.
