They provide garage and other tours for people that are in town early for events. The week before Back to the Fifties he had something like 40 or so cars and they went places like french lake auto parts, Clear lake, Iowa for the surf ballroom and other places including my place. Usually after a few weeks or a month or so goes by I receive thank you cards from some of the attendees and this year was no exception. Except I had no idea that Mr 4 speed Herb McCandless (drove for Sox and Martin in the 60's and 70's) was with the group. I was totally blown away and as a matter of fact I called him and had a nice conversation about the good old days of drag racing.

This is what I Love about our hobby. For the most part these people are just like us mere mortals and never make themselves known, but it sure is a treat to get a chance to rub elbows with them. Great experience, maybe the next bunch will get the plug wires!

No, I never tried it and I am usually pretty daring. I haven’t tried the 300 hp turbonique rocket go kart either

  19. Hop Rod (gasoline powered pogo stick). I've had one for several years and haven't had the nerve to ride it (broken bones heal slowly at my age ….LOL.

  20. Mark, I'm old enough to know Herb. LOL The turbonique go kart is something that I might be the only guy interested in taking for a ride. The only difference from that and my top fuel car is the lack of weight, noise and a roll cage. :)

  21. I've never met the man in person but he helped me out over the phone years ago on a big block Mopar build. Extremely friendly with a wealth of knowledge and very patient.

Looking at the pics of the group going through @moriarty's garage, the thing I noticed most was where everyone's hands were. They were either in their pockets or behind their back. It's hard for some people to understand that kind of respect for someone else's property.

I hope this is not to intrusive or OT, but with the quality of cars and the quantity of cars and the number of visitors, how do you keep everything clean? do you have a system? I know some of the cars are not on the road but many are.
