Technical What’s this cool little box?

    So I picked up this neat little cast aluminum box at the Turlock swap meet today.

    Anyone know what it was originally used for? It has only one threaded inlet at the bottom and two clips to hold the completely removable top on.

    That would be my guess also, maybe a chain oiler of some kind?

    Above ground bowl pumps have that can on them for oil to oil the bearing at the pump shaft just as it goes in the well head, the can slides down on a V shaped bracket and has a valve with a glass sight tube to watch the oil drip.

    Gravity feed with single outlet, slotted side bracket makes me think it just slips onto a mounting bracket.
