I have this picture as my desktop background right now, so I look at it a lot. I was just thinking what a great looking car! I sure wish my 40 looked like this!

wow! thanks man, I love this car and drive it a lot!! I bought it at a garage sale about a dozen years ago. It was all stock and had 40,000 actual miles on it. All I did was dropped axle, chrome 50 merc wheels with 8.20 and 5.90 15's and a 49 caddy engine adapted to the stock trans. It looks pretty darned good considering it was painted over 50 years ago.

Cool garage sale find! I've never seen it in person but the paint looks great in pictures.

  4. The only thing I find at garage sales are glassware and baby clothes. Leave it to Mark to find a pristine '40 Ford Coupe........There's just no justice in the world.:D;)

One of the best lookin' '40 Fords around. Mark def has an eye for style.

  6. I really love Mark's 40 coupe! It's one of my favorite Hot Rods. I have Mark's taste in 60's Rods also, but have a wife, and a empty wallet. lol Here's my yard sale 40 coupe.:( 20170223_235656.jpg

Some random 40 pics. The interior is original but the steering wheel has been painted. There is a 1942 ww2 tax stamp inside the glove box (pictured)

Funny that you have another Hambers car on your desktop. I too have one in the fav pics in my phone (my phone has over 7000 pictures but only about 25 favorites) and it’s Gotgas and his ‘57! Even more funny is that I’m a Pontiac guy!

    I have to ask...

Was it for sale in the garage sale, or just an innocent bystander that you inquired about and pressed to purchase? I have asked a few times about the old car over there, but always get shot down.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to derail this thread. Now it shows up with the ‘57 pic that I posted instead of Mark’s ‘40

Hope reposting this fixes it. Regards, Randy

40 Fords have always been one of my all time favorites. Probably had about 6 different models I had built on my shelves as a kid. Trucks, Tudors, etc. Yours is particularly cool!

  17. ... and if you slept in his kitchen cabinets, he would NEVER, EVER, find you. Next best hiding spot, is his kitchen 'fridge. :) Great spot to keep your pillows cool.

  25. Right out of high school, 1959, I got a job in a sheet metal shop. There was a girl working in the paint dept. that drove a maroon '40 coupe with a Cad. engine. Looked very much like this one. As pretty as the girl was, she was no match for that '40.

Mark I have looked at your car many times over the years, but yesterday was the first time I noticed the expansion plug in the stock flat head radiator. Does this work well or is something you have to tighten constantly btw I am in love (lust) with your coupe Tom

that did work ok, and the car cooled fine with the stock radiator. but I could not keep it from puking coolant whenever I slowed down or stopped. I assumed that it was because it was not a pressurized radiator, I ended up putting a walker in it and that fixed the problem

I get asked that a lot. since it was painted in the mid 60's I can only guess at the color. I know it is not the orig color because as you can see here they didn't pain the firewall and it is a different shade. the car has just a little metallic in it.

Anytime a 'stance' thread pops up, this is the car that should be the default reference, done.
    Ya nailed it Mark.
(and your 'other' maroon car is another of my Hamb top 10...:D)

  30. They are a dignified car the way I see it and the maroon paint fits perfectly. I have built up a few models of them over the years.
