The rough surface looks like a casting.

Could be a Vintage Chassis Works Axle, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen any of their products????......

If it a Vintage Chassis Works axle it will have this identifier forged on it. Look for a wide parting line on top and bottom, that is indicative of a forging, a casting will only have a slender, knife edged parting line.

'Lawman Speed Shop', 'Lucky 7' and related others market this axle, $100. (it was used as a 'leader' to all their other Chinese parts. Hoffman Group. Beware! ) YES. CAST.
I've seen these (3 or 4) on 'rollers', for sale. Front springs also 'strange', although a standoff (20 ft.) looked like a good deal!
I have one of these thrown in with good stuff I got in a trade. My V860 tubes and real axles hang on a wall, this one stands up below...not 'tall', either.

  12. If I have to make a list I would say:
    1. Ford OEM 2. aftermarket forged axle. 3. Cast (No way Jose)

Hoffman Helix stuff, casting. I was on the fence with all the negative comments on it until I decided to get a forged aftermarket. Look at the pictures and then decide. Black one is Hoffman/Helix

  14. Yeah, at first glance, I thought Superbell. Then I looked again at the logo.

  16. Chrome plated cast.Wonder if embrittlement played a part.Somehow I don't see the Chinese baking that axle after chroming.

I’m not throwing stones at any manufacturer but that looks like a Super Bell dropped tube, not a Chinese knock off.
