Having some throttle linkage issues with the rear throttle hitting the front vacuum pot.
    Any easy solution?
It will clear with a 1/2” taller spacer on the front.
I suppose I could make an air cleaner spacer to make the scoop sit level for the rear. But it would look strange with one carb spacer taller than the other.
    Any ideas?

That's why 1850's are usually run inline. Too many headaches...
FWIW, I had better luck with 4779's mounted sideways... looks and performance wise. All depends on your combo,of course.

I had 4777s sideways on a 6-71 for a couple decades, it worked out all right.

Vac secondary carbs on a blower is kind of a strange thing to do.

I also have a pair of Carter 9755 carbs on the blower now, they work fine as well.

Call me biased, but, I feel that a Carter AFB is a Better carb all the way around. I know... Opinions...

Yea I know they probably weren’t the best choice
I listened to some poor advice unfortunately
And they seemed like a really good deal at the time. I have to try and make them work if I can
They came with the blower setup and were inline.
I can put them inline if needed but it will be kind of a pain and looks goofy to me.

I might look goofy, but throttle linkage and fuel lines are waaaay easier.

pretty sure I have less than $200 total in the carters on mine, but I bought them a little over 5 years ago. used from ebay, then put kits and stock jets in them.

I have a pair of edelbrock 600’s but I used a conversation kit to recalibrate them to 400’s and it required the restrictors to be epoxy’d in.
Maybe I can get them out and sell the holleys if I have to

    Here’s the current configuration
It’s been through a lot of changes. Always wanted a blown Pontiac but for now will have to settle for a sbc

Holley 4777 and 4779 have the right float bowls for side ways mount. The holley 1850 float bowls are for straight mounting. 1850 will slosh gas and give a false fuel level.

    Good to know
I think I’m just going to put them inline and try it out. This is just a street cruiser so it won’t see any drags. I’m willing to sacrifice max performance if I can get them to work.
With all the obstacles seem to make sense
And I already have the inline linkage.
Apparently someone makes vacuum secondary lids that link together for tunnel ram usage anyone have a part number been searching and can’t find anything

I wouldn't bother with that...blown motors are surprisingly not picky about the carbs on them. Way different game than tunnel rams

If you're not going to race it you might be surprised at how steerable they are. I got my set up from Gary Dyer in the early 90's and the inline 600's were great until I wanted more then he recommended box stock 4779 750dp's. Man was he on the money! As far as the synced vac. sec. covers, just go to the Holley website and you can find everything you need.
    Killer Coupe, BTW!!!

Hot Heads make a offset carb adapter set, part number #80559 that might allow you to jog front carb slightly to the drivers side and other one right, might allow clearance for the linkage to pass.

I used 1850 straight on a 6-71 . They worked great. I bought secondary spring kits, big pump kit , cam kit for pumps and squirters . Always need jets too. And a lot of time testing. When it was done there worked really good.

Do you remember which cam you used?
    Did you boost reference them?

I don't remember what cam . No I did not boost reference. If I did it again I would, boost reference sounds like a better way. I started out with 5 sizes bigger jet then stock and went bigger from there.

I'd stick with stock jetting and see how it does, holleys are generally set up pretty rich out of the box...

Would you change to a 50 cc acc. Pump right out of the gate or try it as is?

I would leave it all stock and see how it does.

You might have to add a 1/4" spacer under the carb(s) for clearance.....
