My Dad and I are going for the first time! Do you have any tips? We have been going to swap meets on the west coast for 25+ years so we know the general stuff, but what should a first time Hershey attendee expect or be ready for?

  10. Bryan, Before you get to Hearshy look up the Tractor Supply, if I remember correctly there is one not far from the fair grounds. they have Yellow yard carts that are basically a giant kids wagon. Been using one for swaps for years. Heck when your done, bring it with to TROG and I'll hold it for you till next year!

The CT Street Rod Association crew will there again this year. Bringing lots of Aluminum speed parts for the Ford Flathead and some ARDUN heads. Chocolate field spaces C4J-33, 34 and 35 just down from the 37 Kid. Amazing to think this will be year 35 for me.

From that era $4.00 per copy is really good, I've never done well with magazines. Bob

Bring a shopping cart, rain gear, warm weather gear, and cold weather gear. if you have been to the LARS swap meet, Hershey is about 20 times larger. Make a list of the HAMB members spaces so you can stop rest and maybe leave heavy parts. Buy a program with the map well worth the cost. Have fun! Bob

The thing most people don't know is the fact that most vendors park them selves, I've never seen any AACA people other that the sticker checkers at the gate. The entire parking lot as pins and cards like the ones to the left of that yellow line above, space owner and number are on the cards. Space lines and painted lines are not the same. that above spot is Ronnieroadsters and will be covered in flathead & ARDUN parts in 13 days. Bob

That was well worth watching! LIGHT POLE NUMBERS every pole has a number make a note of the one closest to a space you want to return to. I really liked the advice about talking to a total stranger, I've done it myself many times, also look for guys with their country flags in their backpacks, think it is more popular with guys from Scandanivia. Stop by say hello and relax C4J 39-42. Bob

Doug, Have you ever walked to the swap meet? How many years have gone by sine the arrival to the rodent occupied DB Touring? There may be a new wave of hobbyists that haven't heard the story. Bob

I have never walked there but have walked home several times. The original rat rod was purchased in 2003. Rat was unknowingly locked in an enclosed trailer for two weeks before traveling from Kansas to Hershey. He lived on the 5 gallons of corn and acorns he had stashed in the interior of the '15 DB. I had to shoot him to get him out of the car.

Sixteen years ago! I never would have thought it was that long ago. Nice sunny day here today, dragging more stuff closer to the trailer.
