Technical Ford trans length??

How long is a stock 1953 ford 3 speed CAR transmission? From the front of the trans to the end of the tail shaft. Where the bell housing meets the trans case. And does anyone know if it will work with this bellhousing?

Yea. It came off my old merc motor. I have it and want to put a manual in my car. So I might as well put it to use. But I was wondering if it will work with the stock 3 speed

Trans length is 28 1/4. See photos. Trans is out of a '54 Ford Ranch Wagon with a 239 y block.

 

Does anyone have the Leangth of the trans with the bellhousing on. From the front of the bell housing to the end of the tail shaft

Is that measured from the front of the trans where the bellhousing bolts to, to the end of the tailshaft?

Pictures didn't make clear where the 'dumb end' of the tape was...Just the pilot shaft length. But it would HAVE to be from the front case, for if the input shaft was included...the whole trans would be 18-1/4"!

 

the trans in my junk 53 will fit your bellhousing.

 

From the front of the case. Couldn't hold the tape to show both ends and still take the photo.
