I recently picked up a few more Sun distributor testers, in addition to my 504, I now have an SDT, MDT-50, and a 600. All have cabinets, and two in particular look quite nice. I will probably keep the 504 as it will do electronic distributors, and maybe one more and sell the rest. Haven't checked them out yet, but know how to work on them and get parts. When I know more, I will offer them. They make excellent garage art, but even better when they work
When you go thru them, post up what to look for and how to make sure they are preforming properly. I have an old unit that I haven't touched since I brought it home and don't know anything about them. So any maintenance knowledge you can share would be appreciated.
I still have my distributor machine , but only use to setup my own . This is almost a lost art today ! When us old guys die off no one will know how to use them !
It's not the 504 itself, it just has the optional Pulse Amplifier to boost up the electronic's signal to fire the light
Before I try to track down a Snap On dealer, is there an excellent distributor machine rebuilder any of you can recommend? I have an old Snap On machine with a broken belt. The machine was making rubbing scraping noises just before the belt came loose. Some spinning lights did seem to be working, but I dono if it was fully functional. Is there a trustworthy company that rebuilds these ? Does Snap On refurb their antique machines? Thanks WHY BE ORDINARY ?
I have one sitting on a cabinet collecting dust. Seems to run ok but does have a slight rubbing noise. What's the fix?
Check on facebook marketplace, I see them regularly...like this one: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1715519308943180
anyone looking should be selective and get one of the later ones, the one above uses 2 batteries (lower right) and they are problematic
