My brother is in the process of a nice Model A coupe build. Very nice car, hard chop, cowl steering, deuce rails, Built MEL w/ 6x2 log intake, 18”Divco type rear wheels etc... He’s thinking about white as the primary body color with the engine painted the factory sea foam green color. I can’t think of many cars of this period that were white. So we’re looking for pictures of white cars past or present that are that late 50’s early 60’s era style. (We’re already familiar with Paul Sr.’s car) In my mind that is the time frame that the colors shifted away from the more basic and plain colors to more wild and flashy with metallics and such. So if you know of, or can post pictures of white coupes that are of similar styling that would be great. Maybe some others from that time frame as well to use as other color ideas if he decides to not go with white. Thanks in advance.

Neither all the ones I posted would be from the late 50s or early 60s as you requested.
But there aren't many white hot rods out there.

  5. My personal opinion is white works on some cars but not all of them, I like it in the 60's car, that or tutone on them.

My '50 Coupe is white and if I was going to keep the car I would have to go with a darker color, to me white just doesn't scream Hot Rod, but that's one man's opinion and not necessarily a universal thought. HRP

  9. Late '50s early '60s cars would be running 15" wheels not 18" Divcos? (Street cars anyway?)

I don’t disagree, it’s his, not mine. The MEL is gonna date it later than the 18’s do.

The only white car i ever had was this 32 Vicky.
This fuzzy pic was from a car show in the early sixties in Vancouver, B.C.
I only had it a couple of years, before it had to be sacrificed to the mortgage gods.

The Drifters with their 3rd race car at the NHRA Nationals in Oklahoma City in 1958.

    Hello,

That white 1934 5 window coupe belongs to the Drifters Car Club of Redondo Beach, CA. It was one of the nicest 34 Altered Coupes that we saw in those early 1959-1960 drag racing days at Lion’s Dragstrip.

It was the stance and appearance of the white 1934 coupe that made people look. It looked fast just sitting in the pits or on the dragstrip.

Whether it has/had red steel wheels or the ever popular Moon Spun Aluminum Discs, the look was there and it just said … “Let’s Race…” 50s-60s style.
