Features Kustoms blues? I need to see some kustoms....

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by straykatkustoms, Oct 6, 2014.

  1. Its hard to tell from the picture if it's the bed or not. The Tonneau definitely looks right but it is hard to see if the bump out between the bed rail and the Stude pans is there. I think it might be but hard to say for sure. Definitley not the cab. Nothing is right on it.

Good point. Also, the wheel arch to body line height is different.

Here is the original post, if anyone cares to investigate the claims further.

  3. Might have been one of the clones being built before the current one was built maybe Mark knows about these pictures? @chopolds

replacement laminated rear glass has been available for many collector cars for many years now.

  6. Are you sure? The DOT requires that rear window glass be tempered for safety reasons, and has since at least the '50s if not earlier.

i know laminated replacement glass is available. i doubt the DOT would be too thrilled with much of what i do with most of my cars.

The one big show (Cleveland OH) I did not attend with the Kooper Kart clone, was the one where Vic Collins met with the son of the last owner of the original Kart. ( so what I know is second hand, from Vic and Ron) He brought pictures of a very sad, disassembled, cut up Kopper Kart. These pics were published in Rodders Journal. Barry Mazza also had some pics from a fellow that worked on the Kart when Paul Blasdell owned it. They cut the truck up a bit, were installing a Caddy motor in it go racing. The roof was cut up, due to rot under the vinyl upholstery on it. The son remembered the bed being taken to use as a trailer, but he was never able to track it down afterwards, so it may not have actually been used. These pics are ones Barry and Vic had, so we should assume they are the last pics of this great truck before being scrapped.

Thanks for the confirmation, chopolds. It's good to know for sure.
Such a significant piece of Kustom history!

  17. Seems Lanny and Ron both had some bad luck with their 56 Chevy customs.

  26. I dont have any, the owner was never near the car the few times I went by and snapped pictures and then I forgot to take a picture of the window card. The chop was super, alot of work cutting that one.

  27. That is a great picture of Harold Olsen wiping down his Buick, Mick! Never seen that shot before. Thanks for posting!
