I am working on fixing some of the wiring in my car. The factory head light switch was toast. I replaced it with a 6 circuit touch screen system. Each circuit is rated for 20 amps. The factory head lights keep popping the fuse. Everything I read says the bulbs should be 55 watt lamps. Any ideas? I would like to know if there are any LED headlight options that still look traditional.

Did you replace the wiring that goes to the headlights? And did you check for shorts in the wiring?

The lights don't draw 20 amps.

I will just run new wires. The wires are brittle and cracked.

    Thank you.

When I had a similar issue on my 53 150, I used the switch to activate a relay mounted on the core support with power to the lights from there. Power did not have to run inside and back out to the lights. Relay was fused just in case.

A normal headlight switch and wires with good insulation, always work fine for me...
