I found one photo on the net and it led to this article from hot rod https://www.hotrod.com/articles/return-dohc-426-hemi/

Most of the following photos from there but some from the web.

Read the Hot Rod article it's very interesting. I had never heard of this before :)

It was rumored about in 1964 and a couple were made for NASCAR but then disappeared. And now one has been found.

Some of the photos get LARGE

Something to counter Fords 427 SOHC, if it would have been allowed to run in the grand national series.

Uncle Tony on youtube has a great video about the OHC V8's in the late 60's by the big 3.
    Very interesting. Especially Pontiac.

...some wild R&D in the 60s......
Let us give thanks to all of the nay-sayers and bean counters for squashing them.

Awesome Era! Seems like every issue of Hot Rod had factory experimental engines on the cover. Did I Buy them?! Yes, Sir.

  11. And if you are into models, the 1/25th scale AMT 1970 Dodge Coronet Pro Street kit has the DOHC Hemi as an optional build.......the DOHC stuff is only in the Pro Street kit, not the stock 1970 Coronet kit and is in every reissue of the Pro Street kit......andyd

Looks like in this one they are checking cam twist.

& then there's the Aug '57 MOTOR TREND cover pic n 1pg article(p 42) on "Chrysler 500hp 4-cam v8", w/4 carbs(97's?). Based on on a '53 hemi, '55 heads - modified for 2 cams each. 7k rpm. Gear drive to the intake cams, exh cams run w/chain from int cams. Was going to all gear drive. Builders' name was Bill(Bob) Gillelan. Was 10 month long project at article time. Looks like he worked in Moldex Tool Shop in Detroit, & balancing was done by Leo's Custom Racing Engines. No pics due to my trouble w/posting pics/scans. Sorry.

  18. Interesting that they opted for belt driven cams, as opposed to Ford's SOHC.
