I would definitely be there if the date didn't conflict with previous plans. And I think my car qualifies. Hope it works well and you do it again next year.

How deep is that creek, I'll have water running through my cab, haha!

There are. But quite a few have filled up as they are very small B&B type places. There is a campground too. Iowa city/Coralville and Williamsburg are pretty close as well

This spring the creek was pretty high. It’s has been so dry that unless it rains a ton it will be pretty low.

I picked the third weekend as I hoped for this to take off as a small group get together a few months of the year in various places around the state with different hosts/routes. My thought process was to pick a weekend that would dodge major holidays, hence the 3rd weekend. It just happens the third weekend of September is s pretty popular date.

I am not a promoter so the word wasn't spread well, I chose the wrong weekend, it rained all day, blah blah blah. In reality, we still did the run, in the rain, and with only 1 hot rod. In the end we went shopping to help some foster kids get some things to help out in their new start on life.
I am dumb enough to do this again because I hate quitters. Tentatively the date will be September 26,2020. One week later to avoid a couple other events.

Hey man, at least you tried!
That's more than a lot of is can say.
Lord knows you can't control the weather. It's good you turned a negative into a positive by going shopping for some kids that really need it.
I say keep your head up and give it another shot next year!

Already planning to try it again. September 26, 2020. I will hopefully have my RPU out and about to various shows to help spread the word.

On the calendar for next year, Doug. Sorry I didn't make it.

  11. Why didn't you Iowa guys turn out?

Just came back from the Midwest Roadster Run, that means pre '37. Had about 60 cars drove 200 miles yesterday. Some showers. Cars from Ohio, Michigan, Maryland, Mississippi, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, and at least one from Iowa. This event was second year. Weather forecast similar. Cruised just north of St. Louis.

Hope your second year will be a charm. I have it on my calendar.

There was too much going on and it rained all day. I asked Mel when next years Roadster Run is to try to avoid it.

I was at a football game. It was scheduled many months ago. But if next year's run is not on an ISU homegame weekend I will be at the run, rain or shine.

I really wasn’t sure my car met the criteria as being traditional enough.
I didn’t want to be “that” guy.

I would say that your Model A would have fit in nicely with Doug's criteria. I didn't make it this year as it turned out to be on the same day as the vintage kart race that my brother and I race at every year. Hopefully the dates don't conflict next year for me and the weather is better for Doug's second attempt at this.

It did when you asked about when I started talking about it, and it still does.
The basic criteria are pretty open really. 1942/older, built in a pre muscle car era style. Basically if it fits on the HAMB style wise, its good.
