Did the Ala Kart ever run? When first shown it didn't have guts in the engine. Or so we were told.

Six ball, when AMT was measuring the Ala Kart for the model kit, Budd Anderson was told he could take it out for a spin. The car had so much lead in the fenders that he bottomed the front out and the fenders needed repair. So yes, it DID run.

Special, all Mickey Himsl's Moonshiner roadster. Recently redone and gone to auction.

I wonder what this blue is? It's referenced in some of the writing (Silvermist Blue, I think?) but I've never located the year/car... everything I've seen with that name is like a powder blue.

Always loved anything Himsl. Art and Mickey were our local hot rod heroes and our direct link to the real world of quality built cars.

That's just Kookie...I mean Kooky...:D...The MoonShine T...I just scrolled up a saw that's what is was referred to as...

Kinda Finkish...I'm okay with it...all dressed up it takes some of the cheesy edge of it...I hope its Thick gage metal...pretty vulnerable but I remember the Mechanic that certified my Old Jalopy said there's no such thing as a safe Hotrod...Replicating the past or owning a survivor comes with conditions...I live with them...

This is how I remember it best. The tank was chrome and the copper coil fuel line was the "Moonshiner" part. But it looked pretty much like the above pictures before the lime & purple paint. It also turned a little over 100 mph in the 1/4. Mickey Himsl Dubbed His Heavily Modified 1926 For.jpg

  14. I've seen Mickey Himsl's Moonshiner roadster in person. I think it was in the Cow Palace. I really like the car, even the gas tank. I like the purple and green version too. Did it sell, and for how Much?

Man that's some serious steering going on there...I guess that's common to these and generally hidden by pipes...It is a Real nicely detailed Hotrod

Don't know, it was an article from a couple years ago, I THINK it said going to mecum auction maybe look there.

  17. I think I would like to see a better photo of the tank in chrome. I think the red version makes it look like a mustache on the Mona Lisa.

This is not a good photo but it does show the tank.
