Need some expertise identifying this small block Chevy. Block casting number is 3956618. Numbers on the front pad is CE 998946. Has double hump heads. Thank you. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
The 3956618 block was used in 69 for the 327/235, but also the 350 in 250,255 and 300HP versions. The CE on the pad denotes Chevrolet Engine or Counter Engine, so it was sold as a replacement engine. If the heads are original, it is not a 327. Short of a tear down, a look at the crankshaft flange will determine the displacement. I don't have a picture handy, but each different stroke crank has a different shape to the flange. 327 and 350s are similar with the 327 having rounded corners and the 350 is more squared off.
