    Hello fellow Hot rodders!
My name is Axel, i’m 21 years old and live in southeast Sweden. I own a 30 model a coupe and wich im about to turn in to a traditional av8.

So first some background history. I bought the car in winter of 2016 maybe it was january 2017 i cant remember the exact date. I had been looking for a model a roadster or coupe for awhile when this popped up. Filled up my daily driver with gas and my wallet with money and one day later i had myself my first old car.

The car was bone stock except for hydraulic brakes.
    IMG_0247.JPG

It didnt stay stock for to long. I think two days after i got the car home i started taking things of that i wasnt gonna need such as fenders and so on..

Bought a setup of 16” Ford 35 wire wheels with firestones 7.50 in back and 6.00 in front.
Put two stromberg 97 on a Riley intake, modern style distributor from an old Volvo,
Reversed eye spring front and back, and a pair of 39’ taillights.

Had lots of fun with the 4 banger for a couple of years until late this summer when i decided to drop a 59’a in and turn it in to a ”real” hot Rod.

And that is where i stand right now, more pictures to come.

I'd sure like to hear how you modified the Volvo distributor to work in your A motor? This sounds like a great project. Keep the info coming!

    So time for next update.

I bought a 1946 59ab engine before i actually bought any car to use it in. I let it sit till early this summer when i started to rebuild it.
6 of 8 Pistons were stuck, there were heavy rust in some of the cylinders, but no cracks. It needed to be fully rebuilt.

Along with the engine came a 38 transmission in good condition.

The engine has gotten a full rebuild this summer, new pistons and rings, bored 0.60, relieved, new valves, adjustable lifters, new valve springs and guides etc etc..
The engine is basically all stock except for adjustable lifters, and the valve/valve springs is from an 8ba, lightened flywheel with a 10” clutch instead of 11”. And Also, two stromberg 97’s that is left from my banger Will be paired together with an old Edmunds intake.

Bought some things a couple days back!
    A dropped model a axle
A really Nice model a wishbone, wich Will be splitted.
39 rear axle that unfortunately needs a rebuild, but was too cheap to say no to hahaha. 35-36 torque tube and a 41-48 driveshaft.

Im also looking for a Ford f1 steering box, wich is ”more or less” the last peace of the pussle, atleast when it comes to the crucial parts, there is still plenty of smaller ”less important” things i need..

As you some of you probably already figuered out, im looking for a late 40’s to early 50’s style build. Most of my inspiration comes from don Montgomerys books and stuff like that.

    Cheers Hot rodders!

Cheers to You too @Axel de Groot...It's truly heartening to see your passion for this at your age and by that I mean your interest in the Vintage Past...Now.

    Thanks for sharing the journey...;)

Vintage stuff has always been a very big interest for me. I Like vintage old stuff when it comes to a lot of things, music, cars, bikes, machines (i own an old ferguson tractor too) etc etc.
The car and bike interest has come to me naturally, my dad works with old English sportscars like Jaguar and mg, and when i grew up mom and dad had 50 plymouth, a 39 Ford deluxe, dad had an 49 Harley panhead and also 50’ panhead, they didn’t have all the old cars and bike the same time but throughout my childhood there has always been one or two old cars in my family. I can still remember when i as a kid went to car and bike shows with my family. And i can still remember the sound the flathead in that 39 had!

You are quite fortunate with your family connection to all things Vintage...It has certainly influenced you in a most positive way...And what a cool bunch of vehicles you've been exposed to at this young age...I was born into the 60s and the vehicles I evolved around have been boring daily drivers with zero wrenching or connection to the hobby. That said I hold no ill will to my family, that's life...

It's all good though exposure came from elsewhere and I'm still catching up but I'm interested to see what you transform your A into...You sure started with a good building block...You Fellas over there quite understand the big picture and it always inspires to see that conviction to the roots of it all...Build On...;)

That is one amazing looking hot rod,,,considering the short time you have had it. That 59ab should be super nice when you are done,,,really nice indeed!
And to be so young and loving this kind of machinery.
    Awesome!!!

Time to update you guys again!

A couple of weeks ago i lifted the body of the frame, i gotta say, it isn’t that hard working on these old Fords, a couple of bolts and the steering wheel had to go and then the body was free! I used my dads carlift to lift the body of, and i put it down on my trailer and drove it of for storage, since i won’t be needing it for awhile

By the way, the little blue mga roadster is my dads, it had to move out the free up some space for the lift.

After the body was of, i could finally get down business. The engine and trans flew out just like that.

    To be continued..

    And as always, Cheers!
