    From the dover site: https://doverdragstrip.com/galleries/

Good story, this car was built and driven by my 5th grade teacher's Son. Mrs. Perkins ALSO had a flathead 53 Ford that SHE drove at the dover. Blew my mind when I found her in the pits . Still looking for photos of her and the car.

Dig the pants on the photographer on the right side LOL.

I have a few other photos of that wagon. I've never seen hood scoops like that before. They're COOL.

Pretty sure that is an original Max Wedge aluminum scoop. It's just pulled down to the hood in the center. Gene.

I can't see why not--the doors and cowl are the same on all tri fives.

The sheetmetal would bolt up easy enough but surprising they'd let that run in Modified Production with the clip swapped around like that.

Oddly enough the 68 rules stated “moderate customizing is allowed”.
Perhaps that was how they got around it.

Looks like the result of 7" tire on 4" wheel and low air pressure like 7-8lb. Worked ok but if it you got a little crooked you shut off and came back for another run. I think he tried to drive it back straight.

That's interesting. I read that junior stock cars could also have moderate customizing but I notice no junior stock cars seem to have an added hood scoop, although a lot of MP cars did. Was adding a hood scoop expressly forbidden in junior stock but not in MP?

I'm curious. I'm putting together a '57 210 2 door sedan that has bumpers and isn't lifted/straight axle'd but does have a Super Duty scoop bolted to the hood, seems like it would be allowed to run MP but not Junior Stock.

That 55 is so clean!!! I wonder what color it is? That old Lacquer paint with the lead in it made paint seem so deep..
