I've been trying to get out of town for some different scenery, so yesterday I went into S.C. for an auction. Here are some pics. The 55 Crown Vic was pretty solid but all apart. Too much of a project for me 20190914_145416 (2).jpg 20190914_145409 (2).jpg 20190914_145554 (2).jpg . Went for 3400. The remains of the convertible went for 300. The 37 based Popular Mechanics car went for 950. Next post I'll show some of what I got...

Interesting stuff. Those crown vics have always been on my favorite ride list since they came out new.
I'd swear I have seen photos of that Popular mechanix roadster before. A bit of work and that could be a nifty car that was descabbed a bit but still had it's heritage intact and obvious.

    The GMC rad cap is a 1936 dealer desk display piece - rare! 20190915_082817 (2).jpg 20190915_083052 (2).jpg 20190915_102418 (2).jpg

Got a couple of these Boyce moto-meter accessory lights. From what I understand, at night when it was too dark to read the temp on the moto-meter, you could direct a beam of light onto it with this (mounted on your windshield post). The little magnifying glass in it adjusts the beam. 20190915_095717 (2).jpg 20190915_094754 (2).jpg 20190915_095037 (2).jpg

Pretty sure it's a Buick shell. The last one...when the mirror folds down, it acts as a switch to turn the light on. 20190915_173050 (2).jpg 20190915_094154 (2).jpg 20190915_094459 (2).jpg 20190915_094514 (2).jpg

DANG!! Wish I could have been there. Stacks of wheel covers, license plates, old metal toy cars and tables full of goodies. Not to mention the cars. I would probably came home with a truck load of stuff and happier than a pig in shit!!!

Thanks for the pics and prices. That convertible was an insane good deal to someone who would part it out, I'd have been all over that. The sports car thing is neat too, any idea what chassis it was on or what powered it?

Looks like you got some really neat stuff there, those are the best kind of sales.

20190914_145146 (2).jpg They said it was on a 37 Ford frame. Stock flathead powered with wide 5's. Anyone know what this wheel is out of?

I have that same horn button, from the BobK auction, which I'm told is from an early Austin car although I have never been able to pin down the year and model range for it.

Any other pics from the auction?

Pic of the rear of the sports car. Anyone know what the frame/rearend are? Maybe truck? I also got a road center marker...has red eyeballs and kind of looks like a snake head. Never seen one of those before. 20190914_145132 (2).jpg 20190914_151250 (2).jpg 20190915_093854 (2).jpg

I have the 57 tour Kentucky plate but mine is pretty much roached as Mike Wolfe would say.
My brother found it in the woods, rusted to pieces basically but he brought it to me, so I had to put it back together and do something with it, I JB welded it to another old flat plate, painted it back to its colors and hung it on my garage wall with others, Its kinda cool and has a little story to go with it;)

Thanks for sharing....a have a small collection of old toy cars too, Im not heavy into that but if I see a old one that I like I will get it and store it away only to be occasionally looked at:rolleyes:

  19. Both of the 56 fords where a good deal.

I thought the NC plate would be cool for a 55 with a 454....
