Baileys pass was the one of the last ones and jim ran at 5:02pm but not sure on what minute of the feed
Hey @greasemonkey54 thank your brother for all the neat pics and thanks to you for posting them. They really added lots to this thread.
Congrats to all the Drag Week gang. And a shout out for Tom for the first pass in the 5 second rang in Drag Week history. Yea our tracks in this part of the country make for some big ET.
I seen a good number of tri five chevys competing. I never seen a single tri 5 Ford? Never noticed any car with a Y Block in the competition. Possibly because the Fix Or Repair Daily boat anchor Y block Powered vehicles couldn't race 5 days and drive to the next event? LOL. Yea its Mean! I just couldn't help myself.
Did you notice the blown big block Ford powered 55 Chevy in my class, that beat me? The other two cars that came in 1st and 2nd are Mopar powered. Sent from my Trimline
Yes I noticed the ford powered 55 chevy. Ive never owned a Hemi. However I gotta admit they have the best design of the most common production engines. Cost wise its hard to beat a Chevrolet engine. except for the 348 & 409 they are poor design and expensive. The big block in your nova certainly gave t Finnigans Hemi a hard run. I think you had him beat in the 1/8 mile?
Jim, I saw your run with Mike in Blasphamy, and the run looked great. I remember the Roadkill episode where they picked up the 55 and took it up to get the new frame. I was almost certain that you would comment on the run. It must have a fun week. There were lots of pretty cars there, but the one that stuck out the most in terms of the finish, was the blue and cream 56 Chevy 2 dr hdtp. It also went like stink. Seeing the car make history by turning in a time in the high 5 second range, was also really exciting. I was glad to see that someone had a gear for Mike, so that he could finish off the week. I didn't watch every day, but on the days I watched, I saw you run a 10.08. Those other cars that placed ahead of you, must have turned in nearly perfect times every day. I did see one car run a 10.00, but I didn't know if he was in the same class you were running in. Bob
Andy Starr from hilborn has the blue and white 56. He is the one who gave Mike the gear for Blasphemi. They both run a G Force transmission. Now Mike knows he needs to carry a spare gear. Also Jared with the Ranchero, which Mike just barely beat, loaned Mike some tools and stuff to fix the transmission. Everyone does what we can, to help our competitors. That's one thing that makes Drag Week so special for us racers. My class is not limited to 10.00. My car is, because I don't have 9 second safety gear in it. Sent from my Trimline
Not yet. Seems to me that the drop out rate was not real high. But I could be wrong. Final results might be out in the next few days. Sent from my Trimline
I loved the way the guys advertised that they needed parts. They would write the notice on the car window, and Frieburger would announce it. It seemed to work great. Bob
Tom Bailey's 5.998 pass was incredibly awesome! Also, I think Frieberger did a great job on the mic before, during and after the pass. When you do as much and see as much of the coolest car stuff on the planet as he does, it's easy to become jaded, where nothing really excites you any more. His genuine passion really showed through at that moment.
Hey Old Wolf, are you sure that was a Ford engine? It looked like an SBC with a front mount distributor...I believe you are talking about the Grabiak 55?
Jay has a Jackson front mount on his sbc, but the black primer 55 has a blown Ford big block Sent from my Trimline
Driving through Ft Worth. Looked in the mirror, saw the fender flapping in the breeze. Used the broke off piece to clamp it in place. Another thing to fix. Sent from my Trimline
