Hi all I'm having a issue with the valve/spark plug distance my 8 ba engine I Have Isky 814000 400 jr. camshaft and the 304 C. I. Rotating assembly. I also bougt edelbrock 1115 heads but the valves hit the spark plug. Not a good choice as I can clearly see now So my quistion is what head is best for my engine, edelbrock 1116 or offenhauser 1069 or any other that fits the engine without any further modifications. I'm planning to use the engine in a 31 coupe that I'm building. I'm living in Norway so it's not many people around to ask about flathead building. Regards Håvard
I was thinking of doing that but I'm not sure what compression ratio I will end up with due to the difference in the size of the combustion Chambers 64 vs 74 on the other heads
Shorter plug. I started out with Champion H10 in mine until I found a few with the tip flattened. Now I use NGK or Autolites.
Does the "body" / threads of the spark plug actually protrude through the head into the chamber area ? In any case, yes, thick copper washers under the plugs, and or short reach plugs. See Summit or Jegs. Mike
I had the same issue with cast iron heads After the block was decked. Solved it with thicker copper head gaskets and NGK plugs. Sent from my SM-J727V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
