Need some help from the board to help make up my mind one way or the other. Built this a few years ago and while I don't have to sell it, it'd be nice if someone drove the wheels off it. The build thread is here if you're bored or want details. Basically a rust free '31 coupe with a 5.0 and C4.
I have no idea what it's worth since I don't often sell them, but while I can get by storing it on the side of the house, a decent price would go along ways toward helping building my new garage. Don't know what price is the tipping point, but what say you all?

You are right, someone needs to literally drive the wheels off of it.
Hit the internet and check sales prices is always a good start.

That pic is with the wife's Cragar wires, but there's also a set of Rebel Sprints (same sizes) that go on it.

Just asking. You asked WIW, I just asked for information. You went with a 5.0 and those wire wheels with radial tires, good chance there's a MII stuffed under those fenders too.

There's a lot of unknowns about the car, but now I'm afraid to ask.

4" drop axle with 1" drop frt xmember, 9" triangulated ladder bar rear. Here it is (when it was being assembled) with the Sprints on it.

Well I took the time to scan thru your build thread and I've got to say, impressive fab and attention to detail. People are going to look at this and think" patina Model A". Might be worth $15-20,000. But a closer inspection and appreciation of your efforts should double that.

I am sure someone would like to step up and take it to the next level.
If it were mine I would decide on a number I was comfortable with and go with that.
You could always put a crazy number on it and put in on Partswapper.
It looks like a very nice 70's/80's style rod .

  15. Add up your parts, then discount by a third, throw away your labor (it is your hobby right?), step back and look at like you're buying not selling. That'll get you your honest asking price.

My builds are kinda that way.... I don't build them for other people, it comes down to this mental process that goes really micro.
I know ultimately it's whatever someone will pay, but when you want to build your own shit there's no reference what someone would PAY for it. If there's no market for it, I'll find a place for it and take it out occasionally. That's why I posted this.... absolutely no idea.

I’ll give you $50 for it if you’ll deliver it.;)

Yanking your chain, but be prepared for low buck offers.

It's a rough call as you never know what turns someone on or off. Wheels and tires that aren't what I want on the car are a bargaining tool as far as I am concerned. As in what will you knock off the price if I bring my own wheels and tires?

Still a well written add with a good description and high quality real photos, not phone quickies shot in bad light, are one of the keys. Things like build photos that show the quality of the chassis.
From where I sit, guys doing the math on building one similar might get real interested even if he price is a tad above the norm. All of that parts list adds up to $$$ plus there isn't anything offensive on the car that flat has to be changed or is a deal breaker.

Yeah, that's much better. I'd put those on to sell it. Nice looking hot rod! I like the look with the rear fenders and splash aprons, and then no hood or front fenders, very cool! And I love that you kept the A radiator shell instead of the ubiquitous deuce shell. Nice!

But I have to say, the SBF is going to either force the price down, or extend the sale period. Great engines, just not as popular in pre-war Fords. You built it for you, and that's great, it just means it makes it a little harder to sell.

    $30k - $40k for a Model A? Good effing luck. That's a tough market place.

    Sadly, have to agree.
Fine example shown, rust free doesn't happen in the East.

I really like this car! I have a 31 A that I was planning to put on 32 rails but now I don't know.

While I don't doubt it, it's always struck me as odd that people get so into one engine or manufacturer or another. Guess it's just what Dad had around in the formative years.

  25. Well, I'm a rebel, but the lack of a 350/350 increases the desirability in my book.

Is that a glass ‘32 in the garage ?
Put that out in the weather and keep the steel Model A inside.:D
Nice model A , I really like it especially with the wheels in the first post.

Glad you like the A, but the '32 is the priority going forward. A 545 stroker in a 2,000lb car is my retirement hobby. Race, break, repair, repeat. Better than being a wheel of fortune couch potato ya know.

  29. That car is a little too well built for that skraggly lack of paint.

Thanks, but that's the contradiction I was going for (initially). I've built over-built street cars and big paint show cars that looked great but I was paranoid to drive. This was to be pretty highly detailed but not with $10k paint, so if it got a small dent or scratch no big deal. In the future I'd paint it like John Davies' coupe (love that thing), but it's unlikely that will happen, so I'm exploring other options. I didn't start this thread to pimp it before I list it.... just wanted a realistic idea what it's worth so I can determine if selling it is even worth considering.
