Really like that paint scheme. Nice looking '55. Again, where are all these cars??? Wagons and four doors I can some what understand. I have seen a bunch used as parts cars. But were all the 2-doors made into street rods and painted screwy colors??

Guys I have been putting together a history of solid axle Corvettes in drag racing (concentrating more heavily on the 60s) and have spent a decent amount of time trying to track down the history of the the Corvettes (mainly solid axle models) that ran in modified production and then modified eliminator starting in 1970. I want to include a mention at the very least of the great modified era but if I had to do so now it would border on pitiful. I have binders full of information on the 60s and virtually nothing to speak of on the modified eliminator era. There are quite a few pictures of old Vettes that ran during the era but I have not stumbled on any information that would help tell the story. Are any of you aware of any print media or even on line articles that go into any detail of some of the Corvettes be it the cars/drivers/events etc?
I know this car. It belonged to my friend Don Peek. I worked with his partner Dale Browning at Launati Cams back in the middle 70s. He won a lot at Lakeland Dragstrip. I had a H/G 70 Barracuda with a 302 sbc and he was the man to beat. Don sold it and started building a 66 or 67 Chevy II for the super modified class. and I quit racing. Sold everything except a 61 Corvette that I was building into a modified production car. It sat in my shed all these years. I have had hundreds of people try and buy it from me but I would tell them I will fix it some day. I started redoing what I started 40 years ago, last year and I am now just about to finish it. I hope to get it on the track before the season is out.
A great week, four members have said photos I have posted were of their cars or cars they worked on or knew the owners. Makes me want to keep posting.
