Red one looks alright, could look great if it was dropped an inch, and with higher profile tyre out front.
Black one sits nice but looks like the front end was cocked up and place 2 inches too far back.

Both could be easily redeemed with 285/75/15 rear rubber and some chromies and 15 inch rubber up front

Started test fitting the front sheetmetal on my 36 this weekend, I need to get the running boards mounted next so I can get all the gaps fine tuned to 1936 standards.
Any suggestions on what rear end to use?. I want something with drum brakes and 6 bolt wheels. Ive been trying to find a 55-59 rearend but havent had much luck, I heard some of the Japanese minitrucks are the correct bolt pattern but I'm not sure which ones I should be looking for. Engine will be a mild 235 with a T-5 20190812_195412.jpeg 20190812_200124.jpeg

  4. I used a '94 Nissan 4x4 rear in a 38 chevy pickup. it fit like it was made for it and we used the original wheels. IMG_5911.JPG

  8. there is a bracket bolted to the bed, which cradles the bottom of it and then has a wing nutted clamp that hooks and holds down the can. it is actually a tool box.

Here are some of my updates on my 34 Chevy Roadster build!
Trying so hard to get the match on the existing light blue paint so close but still not a match! Notice the front grille shell is the new light blue paint but still not happy that it matches the main body light blue color! Now seems like I will do the whole entire car over in the New Dark Blue paint that I did on all IMG_20190805_113702.jpg IMG_20190805_113754.jpg the fenders, running boards and all running lights!
Oh also reshaped and pulled in the front bumper for a cleaner look!

Change of plans! Not able to get a perfect paint match on the 40 year old Atlantic Light Blue paint! Taking the whole car apart and will be doing the complete 34 Chevy Holden Sports Roadster over with the Aussie Midnight Dark Blue paint same as all the fenders, running boards, taillights and headlights! Here is the ride height with wheels in place! Oh also doing a Cream Firewall with Medium Bronze Gloss on the Frame and ALL Parts under my car! Trying to get the 50’s look with IMG_20190815_110339.jpg IMG_20190815_110339.jpg IMG_20190815_110713 - Copyresize.jpg IMG_20190815_123357.jpg this build! Also Painting Gold on my engine and Gold Transmission!

Hello all. I'm looking for a reference measurement of the front bumper mounting bolt centers on the front frame rails of a 1935 standard. I'm upgrading the front suspension, which the PO has already been into and I want to make sure the frame rails go back where they were. Thanks in advance.

34 & 35 Standards share the same measurements, just a different frame X-member

  18. well this is a new build and a bowtie. i have searched threads but have not seen any 29 or 30 chev touring builds. so i figured here is better than anywhere.
i have from the cowl back a 30 touring. i have always liked tub cars. been gathering stuff to start the project. sat down and done a first draft of how i want it to look without moving fenders up. debating on moving fenders up. will sit down and draw that too. here is some picks. anyone with info, help on touring chevs.......
    thanks paul IMG_20190831_080249~2.jpg IMG_20190820_153945.jpg IMG_20190831_080249~2.jpg IMG_20190820_153945.jpg IMG_20190820_153852.jpg IMG_20190820_153643.jpg

Glad to see you are keeping the Chevy springs. Too many guys Fordicate the suspension which always says to me, "I wish I had a Ford but I had to make do with a Chevy." :(

Some updated pics of my barn/garage find. Runs and drives great! Put a top metal top in it and sprayed with bedliner to mimick the canvas. Used the rear 1/2 of a 2009 Impala roof...it dropped right in, no shrinking the edges or anything. Perfect compound curves to fit 33-35 Chevy coupe and others, I'm sure. Thank you. Freed up the brakes and adjusted them, repaired the exhaust, rebuilt the fuel pump, new tires/tubes, some good used headlight lenses, adjusted the clutch, and reinstalled all the parts they had removed. Turned out to be a better car than I org. thought.

Making headway! Got the whole 34 Chevy Holden Sports Roadster apart! Plus got several re-chromed parts back, the frame all TIG welded and now heading off for medium bronze powder coating including all suspension parts!
This body has very clean metal for 84 years old! The rest of the body and wood is really solid, with minimal dents. It's cool to see the old primers and how well they still grab onto the steel!
The body is now in epoxy primer and starting bodywork on the firewall and cowl!
Also here mounted are my Swan 4 inch SST Peep side mirrors!
Oh I also tricked out my rumble seat lid and left the handle to open as a full trunk and custom made SST hinges IMG_20190927_145901.jpg IMG_20190927_132023_1.jpg IMG_20191001_071858.jpg IMG_20191001_071909.jpg IMG_20191001_071927.jpg IMG_20191001_071944.jpg IMG_20191001_141730.jpg IMG_1263.JPG on this Sports Roadster! Haven't made much progress on my 36. Had to reorganize the garage before winter so I threw the stock axles and junk springs under it to make it mobile. I was still in elementary school the last time this truck was rolling, and this is the first time in over 40 years the body has been bolted to a frame with doors that open and close properly. I did manage to get the box mounted last month, I was fortunate to get original boxsides in excellent condition, but will need to save up for a new tailgate as originals are impossible to find. 20191006_194656.jpeg 20191006_161608.jpeg 20190901_195443.jpeg
