Anyone ever used a donor car to fill the roof of a 30/31 ford coupe? If so, what car/year did you use? thanks
We installed a late 60's Chevelle turned backwards in a 28/9 coupe once. Would probably work well in a 30/1 also. The front of the Chevelle roof where it's curved over the windshield fits nicely on the back of the coupe roof. Might even be able to order up a brand new repro skin if you can't find an original in a yard.
Find somebody good with an English wheel and they can make one, save you from rambling through the junkyard. Good luck.
I just used the rear half of a 2007-2013 Impala to fill my Chevy coupe. Might be close enough to yours. It fit prefectly!
Lester Codd and I 'nibbled' the roof off a '69 Buick wagon, before Moomjean sent it to the crusher. Some trimming, and the curve was just perfect.
I thought Jonathan W was a interesting topic, he used a Gremlin car hood. As bad as that sounds, he actually had room for a 3rd brake light. The choice is yours. If you are trying to do a full resto and sell it for a full price ... good luck. If you trying to build it to drive it, you will have a lot more fun out of life. Used metal rather it be a 70's chevy or a 60's rambler, that is your new top.
Vega wagon (if there are any of those left)...the roof has ribs that were the perfect length for a coupe.
