Not everything needs to be Chopped to be Kool. Just because you could don't mean you should.

The only problem or hardest part of the chop it will be the windshields but it almost looks like the 54 ford streamliner( my opinion)

I have no doubt that you have the talent to chop the top. The question is do you really want to? I cant help you but I want to say, welcome to the dark side... It's going to be a kool trip.

 

I think that train has left the station. I think Travis’ car is the route I would take, but I am not sure I have it in me to pull that off. I have too many other irons in the fire.

The rectangular pass side window and 1/4 window combined with the
vertical "A" and "B' pillars just don't look to be in the right proportion or shape.
Doesn't "flow".

 

I wonder if moving the posts forward, and notching the door opening (somewhat like a Crown Victoria) would help. Maybe that is why the Crowns were made like that.

 

Pretty much everybody gets the chop of these cars wrong, especially the custom and custom line models. The car itself is short to begin with wheelbase-wise, so you would think the chop would help. It doesn't. As 2 door sedans, when the lid gets lowered it has to go straight down to a degree to keep the door frame square, otherwise the door frame is crooked. But that kills the flow you're looking for by causing the roof to do straight down vertically with a quick dive from behind the B pillar to the catwalk instead of angling back gradually and creating a fast-looking flow. That's how they get that squashed look, and the short wheelbase just accentuates it. Hardtops are much easier to cut and make look better because you don't have the B pillar to contend with. But even then, lots of the ones I've seen are cut too hard in front and still have the bubble in the roof over the rear seat. There are a few Crown Vics in this thread that look great chopped, but the Crown Vic has a different roof to begin with, and the angled, non-functional B pillar with hardtop door make the lines work better. You could try to get the same effect with the 2 door sedan by angling the B pillar, but again, you run into the same issue of the top of the door frame being tilted backwards and not parallel to the door top, which is an issue you don't have with the Crown Vic since the door has no window frame.

I vote to leave it alone.

one reason it looks good is its flow from front to rear

this car is cool but does not flow as clean as the first pic......I know, different roofs

this sedan seems to flow better but maybe chopped a little more than I would like
I think using a 56 Vic windshield and possibly a 56 VIc rear window roof section would produce a clean sedan chop
The sedan roof needs chopped above the drip rail to thin the roof or use a Vic roof and add the post and pieces associated with the post for a clean sedan roof
If ya like to weld and dont mind scrounging up some part to experiment with, I say cut it man
