Hello all, I recently bought a 35 Chevy truck cab for a project. Mostly all my steel is in good shape except for my drivers side door. It's pretty much trashed beyond repair below the window frame and even that is questionable. Have trouble finding much info but what years of doors will fit the 35? The cab will be getting a 3 inch chop so as long as the lines are the same would say a 36 lo cab door work? Could you maybe piece a door together using lower portion of a newer door with the older upper door frame? Or does someone possibly have a set of good condition doors hiding somewhere?
36 high cab doors are the same. 36 Low cab doors are different and have a steel inner structure. Is your door swiss cheese or just bent? If you can save the bodyline on your door you could splice in the lower doorskin from a 36-38 truck and modify the edge to fit the door opening. Doorskins for those trucks are available new or you can build your own.
My passenger door is just some slight rot along the bottom so was going to just fix that. But the drivers door is a total mess. May be able to salvage the upper bit above the body line but even that'd be a lot of work but I know these things are getting to be super rare so might have to end up putting the time in. I have found a few places with patch panels but always seems left door patch panels are out of stock
I can get some pictures and measurements off a 36 lowcab door tomarrow evening. The bodylines are very similar or could most likely be manipulated to work. Unfortunately I just sold a nice 35 highcab a couple weeks back so I can't do a direct comparison. 36-38 lowcab parts are a little easier to come by although I have found that I still have to buy 2 of everything to get usable parts for my 36.
Is your door framed with wood ? Wood winder and door latch mount board ?? 34 35 will be an all wood framed door , mid way thru 36 they came out with an all steel door for the high cab (tough to find)
Here are some pictures and measurements of a 36 lowcab door. The inner structure is steel and the door top is completely different from a highcab. *At the rear of the door the distance from the top of the upper bodyline to the bottom of the lower bodyline is 4" *at the front of the door the distance from upper to lower bodyline is 4.75" *length of the door measured from the base of the lower bodyline is 30.25" *length of the door measured along the bottom edge is 32.5" *height of the door measured at the back edge from the bottom of the door to the base of the lower bodyline is 26.25" *height at front edge measured from the bottom of the door to the base of the lower bodyline is 26"
